Why are you playing with hardcore with a relatively weak gpu such as yours? The realtime radiosity lighting is turned off on the high setting, which is the biggest FPS eating monster on higher settings ;)

Crying isn't gonna help. If you don't like this and it bothers you so much then simply avoid buying their games. And I don't see how it's bad for consumers. They have to open one different program, big deal. You can still import games cheaper or buy them at your retail store and then registrate that copy, so it's not like they could control all the prices.

So criticism equals crying?

Remember that guy who got locked out of playing his copy of Dragon Age 2 for criticizing Bioware?

Lucky son of a *****.

No I just stated that all this anti-EA bashing and flaming isn't gonna do anything unless people actually start avoiding their products.

I avoid their products and they didn't go bankrupt yet... That doesn't mean I'll stop avoiding them though. :)

I guess ME3 and BF3 won't be on Steam, at least not initially. Sadly EA does occasionally publish a decent game. ME3 and BF3 looking to be two of those.

Hopefully they will be sold on Amazon's downloader. While it sucks if you interrupt it (doesn't allow you to partially download, you must download the entire thing, no restarts ect.) it is solid if you just let it sit and download/extract for a few hours.

I would hate to have to use 2-3 Steam like clients to play my games though...

But you bought ME1 and 2 didn't you? ;) Or was that before your boycott?

Afaik a year ago EA did change something when players bashed EA. I can't remember if that was Dragon Age or what :\

I think you are referring to the boycott threat of Bad company 1. EA changed their minds about exclusive multiplayer content.

Not sure about the details, but it's a great example of the power of a coordinated boycott.

I think this is a big mistake for EA. Time and time again, EA has shown that they are not really capable of keeping up with the competition when it comes to 3rd party gaming services. Remember EA Downloader? That was a joke.

They will be able to get away with it for BF3 since it has such a huge following and will hit every retail store known to mankind, but all of their other, less popular titles titles will suffer.

Steam, despite all of its idiosyncrasies, has staying power with PC gamers because, fundamentally, it comes from a company that most of us respect. Besides that, it's been around for a while and has evolved into a rather good service. Even I, who hated it at first, have grown to like the friends features and the truly ridiculous Steam sales that I seriously doubt EA's "Origin" will even remotely be able to match in value.

In the end, I see it as EA attempting to reap more profits but in the end will only severely hamper the distribution of their own games. I'd give Origin a couple years before it returns to the pile of ignored services.

Good for you then. I'll enjoy possibly great titles like Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 in the meantime.

I wonder if Valve will still choose EA Partners as their publisher for their next game though..
