The whole point is not to have a decent crosshair. If it points exactly where the gun is going to shoot (ie: where the barrel is pointing), what is the point of iron sights? Crosshair should be disabled on Hard and up. No kiddy wheel crap. From Hard and up, KF should be the tough but rewarding game it has always been. And if you really need a crosshair that badly that you want to put blu tack on your screen, you may be playing the wrong type of game.

They DO have aim-assist in the game... well, they never outright deny it in the interviews so they most likely have some form of aim-assist that they're very careful about.

Anyway, most of this speculation was only from TB saying there's the optional crosshair, and everyone assumed a certain kind of crosshair that would be "unfair". I finally see it and think it's annoying more than helpful and will happily keep it unchecked lol

Every one of you who's saying that everyone can put a dot in the center of their screens forgot that KF2 is with free aim model. When you look around you move your character's arms, not your entire upper body so your aim is not pointing in the dead center all the time.

If people want a crosshair, they'll make one. With thread or a pasty on the monitor, some kind of overlay, mod, idk whatever. A potential problem with an option in the menu is that it's significantly easier, and many would not go through the trouble to "get" a crosshair otherwise.

What bothers me personally about this is that for me playing without a crosshair added a lot to the fun and unique experience which KF1 was.

I feel like if there is a crosshair and it's on by default, many who are new to KF will leave it on without thinking about it, never even exploring the awesomeness which is iron sights only.

I feel like it should be off by default (if the option must remain) and almost feel like if you go to turn it on there should be an "ok" dialog box saying something to the effect of "Turning on the crosshair detracts significantly from the KF experience. Try playing without a crosshair - you might just like it a lot more! [ OK ]"

Forcing it off above normal sounds nice as well. I don't think the crowd that having a crosshair will appeal to would be playing much above normal anyway. I could be wrong about that though.

Lol, I didn't knew that people like this exist. I was waiting for the KF2 from the very day of it's initial announcmenet with my friend. Today, my friend found out there will be optional crosshair. Guess what? He exploded in rage. At some point, he even started reconsidering if he's going to buy KF2 at all. Now all he is doing is blabbing about the game being made for casuals and how he is going to play it from gamepad lying on a couch with one hand, while eating calmars and drinking beers with another. I simply don't understand this kind of attitude.

No, they aren't using the RO2 weapon handling model here. It's more of the standard FPS model with a crosshair that changes in size to show the spread of the weapon as you move or stay still.

I wish they'd let you switch it on in Easy/Normal/Hard, but it's impossible to be turned on in Suicvidal or HoE (or w/e the new game modes are).

This means that all the CoD players you're pulling over will still be able to run around like Rambo and still have a chance at hitting things, but once you start playing the game seriously, you have to play KF properly.

And I know you can tape your monitor or something, but the number of players who do that are (I presume) very slim, whereas if there's an easy on-off toggle ingame you'll get far more players who use it. And if you get lots of players using it, it encourages more to use it, otherwise they're artificially hampering themselves etc.

The tape on screen argument really is just silly, you'd have to be some special kind of scrub to do that instead of just adapting to the game you're playing. Not to mention straight up cheating with 3rd party programs or whatever.

Keep in mind KF1 has no crosshair, and it's one of those small but meaningful features that really popped out at you when you started playing. It's part of KF.

It encourages use of ADS and just straight up learning by doing, ie hipfiring and getting a feel for where the shots land. It's satisfying. You are essentially robbing new KF2 players of this core KF experience if you even have a crosshair option.

At the very least force disable it for suicidal and hoe.

If I recall only the PS4 version will have an active aim assist and persistent crosshair.
The funny thing is, I tried turning on the crosshair, and it is terrible. It's honestly better to have it disabled because it is very obstructive and it widens a LOT when you move, making it useless. It's funny, I think they did that on purpose to get people who are used to crosshairs to git gud at not using them.

I've more or less grown to expect a good 20% of gaming population to be a special kind of scrub.

As you mention though, I 100% agree, that it's simply one of the very unique experiences of KF1, a "trademark" if you will. And now it's simply gone with a menu option.

It'd be like putting jetpacks into counter-strike. They just don't belong there. That, or maybe removing crosshairs and putting ADS in all the guns.

You can play the current beta with a gamepad and play with aim-assist. It's extremely powerful. I've tried it only on normal though, but it made me a headshot machine with the basic pistol.
