Before that I had Runtime error (This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way...)

Try validating the game files in Steam - right-click the game -> properties -> local files -> validate integrity of game cache.

Readfile errors are usually to do with corrupt files - in this case it seems it can't load a file within a certain time, but it isn't a message I've seen in KF before.

Problem fixed!

I ran an Ad-Aware, and found that it stopped at a certain file.

So I did a CHKDSK, defragged, ran Ad-Aware (which went through all the way), and deleted the corrupted files found in the Ad-Aware scan.

After that, RO worked!
//same engine

Maybe it helps.

Written here.

Try changing your download server in the steam options and doing the same. You could also attach your log file (killingfloor.log) found in the killingfloor/system folder. You may also want to run an error test on your hard drive, in case there is an issue with the area of the drive that the game is sitting on.

Edit: Beaten to it!

I'm on it.

Hard drive of my laptop (on which I want to play KF on) seems to be... umh... let's say "buggy" (freezes a lot). Is it a good idea to move Steam Installation on External Hard Drive? On Steam homepage it says that it might cause performance issues, but what's the possibility?

Running a 12-hour chkdsk on my laptop worked (I let it be over the night, used another computer at first and woke up because of the Windows startup sound laptop made). It found quite many bad clusters, also on multiple KF files. :)

Thanks ya all.

Yea, that error is usually indicative of a corrupt file. Glad you got it squared away.
