Generic list of things:

Delete your redorchestra system folder and verify the game cache inside steam.

Update your direct x version to the latest revision (they release a new one every 2 months or so)

Update to the latest videocard drivers

Hi, sounds like some people might be having the same trouble I am... but here is a detailed report of what is going on... I used to play the game all of the time, and then several months ago, all of a sudden, it just quit working. I have tried to re-install Steam and Red Orchestra several times, using several different methods, and still the same thing. I even updated my graphics card driver last night and it's doing the same thing. I'm stumped. Please help ;-)

this is what is says when I attempt to play the game:

Build RedOrchestra_Build_[2005-11-27_10.48]

OS: Windows NT 6.0 (Build: 6000)
CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 2394 MHz with 2045MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS (9746)

Engine C++/UnrealScript class size mismatch

History: VerifyClasses <- UGameEngine::LoadMap <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Free\

Runtime Error!

New Technologies 6 is Vista.
At least I think so...

Close Steam.
Go to your RO files and delete the RO system folder.
It should be in : Program Files/Steam/steamapps/Common/RO/System, delete this file.

Start Steam, go to MY Games/RO, right click on RO icon/properties/local game files/verify integrity of game cache , Steam will update and give you a new RO/system file.

You will have to reset your controls & preferences !
If your card is DX9 (I think it is) choose DX9 in the renderer options.

Might help !

hey 51,
i appreciate all your tips.
ever since the big patch, i've basically been unable to play.
it seems like i am not the only one.
i've spent an embarrassing amount of time trouble shooting this,
but i'm not ready to give up.
i have a lower end system and i know upgrading would probably
be the fix, but what bugs me is i had 9 months of tank killing bliss
until the patch. what changed?
i've found with a fresh boot, delete clientblob, delete RO system folder,
verify integrity i can get in and play no problem...for 10-20 minutes.
then i enter some kind of laghell. i kept the system monitor running under
the game and have found what i can only call a memory leak.
something in either steam or RO is chowing down half my memory
doing nothing. exiting out of the game doesn't end the process,
which must be done manually. steam can then be exited out of,
but the 50% memory use remains. there is no accountable process
for this and it will remain used until reboot.
aaarghh! i just want to send some rounds downrange.

Go get a little program named CrapCleaner.
Once installed run the sweep tool, this will get rid of most crap. Deletel RO/Steam and make sure you get everything leftover in the folders.

Then run the CrapCleaner Issues Tool.

Even if you still have problems with RO your computer will be in better health!

Try it !

I even took a RO file copyed it and installed it from a WORKING computer with the EXACT same Setup and the same thing is still happining. It worked FINE before on this computer NOTHING has changed no mods no playing with the setup I Don't get it.

Did you delete the Steam "client registry blob" file ?
Then "verify RO game cache".

Close Steam.

The "client registry blob" file is in the main Steam folder, delete.
Open Steam, it will create a new "blob" file...

To verify game cache, open Steam, right click on RO icon /properties/local game files/verify integrity of game cache.
Steam will update as needed !

Same story..the only thing I havent swapped around is the mainboard. I will try this option this afternoon. Im honestly out of options. Thx 4 the help:). This is really strange....It worked before on this system THEN after an upgrade to include Mainboard,Ram,Grafic Card, Processor, powersupply. 1 out of 3 computers will not run RO. All 3 are the EXACT same. The other 2 have no problem. This 1 only has a problem with RO. I have run a DX test and the direct draw has faild in 2 areas. This leads me to think the mainboard is bad, Due to the fact the grafic card works fine in the other computers in RO. I have run MANY repair programs and troubleshooters.....ALL OK. I will know more in a couple of hours after I swap the mainboard. If this same ERROR happins after all this I will probably bring this computer ro a WITCH DOCTOR for an excesorsism. If this dont fix it is CURSED:eek:

You will not believe this but the Processor was the problem. It Showed no signs of trouble at all with ANY other application but when I switched it out the game ran NO PROBLEM!!! I can not explain it but I have 3 EXACT same computers and 2 ran it NP the one NEVER got past the German Soldier intro. Graphic cards were swapped,Ram,Mainboards, and FINALLY the processors. I can only guess it had something to do with the 3D NOW aspect. If I hadn't of done it myself I would not believe it. blog files, Cash files, system.ini, C:\Programe\steam\steam.exe\??? something else I tried to Que in at start-up. BUT when I swapped the processor everything went smoothly. I ran an D3D test on Direct draw NP BUT Direct3D bombed. this was my first clue. But I thought it was the graphic card.....It wasn't. 3 days of many descriptive adjectives and walla. Now I will have a drink!.........mabe 2?

This is what I get -- I CAN play but it crashes at times.
Thanks!
