Critical error after steady drop in performance

As a pretext, I've been experiencing a real bevy of problems trying to play Killing Floor since I first purchased the game. Since most of them aren't deal-breakers (for me), I'll reserve them for another post.

However, just within the last day, I've been receiving an error message similar to the one posted above. To start from the beginning (of the current problem):

I join a game, and the connection is fine. My ping starts in the mid 50's. However, as the waves progress, the game becomes occasionally choppy. Then it becomes a steady chug. My ping creeps up into the mid 100's, with momentary spikes up to 999 (does not coincide with any noticeable graphical lag). Finally, around wave 7 or 8, with the game nigh-unplayable, Killing Floor simply stops. I find myself back at my desktop with the game process terminated, and an error message. It has been formatted to fit the horizontal parameters of this post:

Build KillingFloor_Build_[2009-02-09_10.82]

OS: Windows NT 6.1 (Build: 7100)
CPU: AuthenticAMD Unknown processor @ 2019 MHz with 2047MB RAM

I immediately proceeded to update the Windows 7 64-bit drivers to support my GeForce 7900 GT (as the OS auto-installed an older version). That didn't fix the problem. I then followed all the advice outlined by Yoshiro in his "Known Issues and Fixes" thread, to no avail.

Right before I posted this, I tried the game on my XP installation, and experienced the same problem.

As I mentioned before, the problems I've been experiencing before this one, while annoying (connection issues, inability to see internet servers, inability to transfer to new game on same server, etc.) could be ignored. This, however, has me finally ready to throw in the towel. I like this game and want to keep playing!

Any help and/or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
