So you're getting that error, but the game still loads?

For me, I get that, and sometimes a Runtime error, but the game crashes to desktop. I never actually make it to the main menu (or even the Tripwire intro screen).

A search for this problem told me to delete the KillingFloor.ini file and/or the entire system folder. That doesn't work.

The only solution I've found is to delete the system folder, have Steam verify and redownload the missing files, then reboot my computer. This gets me in the game once, until I do that process again. This game worked great in the past, so there's got to be a fix.

Also, I have a Radeon 4850 and Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs of RAM.

If it helps, this has been happening before the xmas update.

Your not the only one, I'm getting the exact same issue, and what it does to me is either the games tries to load and freezes my entire computer, or I get this error

No Label

OS: Windows NT 6.1 (Build: 7600)
CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 2653 MHz with 4095MB RAM
Video: No Video

Can't find 'ini:Engine.Engine.GameEngine' in configuration file

History: UObject::SafeLoadError <- UObject::StaticLoadClass <- InitEngine <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Free

First of all, I have windows 7, second, thats not my processor, third, no video? I have a geforce 470 with the latest drivers

Deleting the system folder and verifying does nothing for me.

This happened as soon as the christmas update came out.

PLEASE FIX!

Thanks

Ya my game will either load(and usally take a long time) or lock up my entire pc. And if it does load sometimes the game will just freeze and i get that error.

You have corrupted data, manually delete your system folder and let steam verify the integrity of the game cache.

Try running the game in software audio rather than hardware or hardware eax. select use system driver as well in the menu.

I just tried it again, and finally this time it loaded, however, it loaded in windowed mode, as soon as i changed it to full screen my entire computer locks up and im forced to restart.
-------------------------

Just tried it for a fifth time, this time the windowed mode loaded and totally locked up my entire computer forcing a restart.

did you try using a different renderer? There is a sticky by yoshi on how to change the game to Directx8 you could try OpenGL as well.

First off, thanks for the help Zetsumei

I'll try this now (what you said above), Don't know why that would be the issue as i've never had that problem before.

Tried it a 6th time (without what you said above), this time I finally got to load into full screen ok from the settings menu, but as soon as i tried to go back to the main menu, entire computer locked again, forced restart, and now im back to this again

Build UT2004_Build_[2004-11-11_10.48]

Can't find 'ini:Engine.Engine.GameEngine' in configuration file

History: UObject::SafeLoadError <- UObject::StaticLoadClass <- InitEngine <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Free

If its corrupted how is it doing this over and over when I redownload by verifying every time and deleting the system folder?

I'll try the render now.

Thanks

Actually heres the log info if that helps any from the last time i tried the game

Ok tried the render thing and it works (switched to dx8), I did notice in this mode AA is off, could that have something to do with it not working in dx9 mode? That was never an issue before for me.

The game starts in windows mode but I can make it full screen and games actually load and play fine at last. I'm just not sure what the actual problem is here. I never had this issue before the update.

Thanks for all the help Zetsumei

Further update

I think i narrowed down the issue to this. I used to play the game with AA at 8x and it ran fine. Now, since the christmas update, if I try to run the game with any AA setting, it sometimes locks the entire computer, sometimes it does not. In DX8 mode everything seems to run fine so far. I went back to DX9 to see, and even with AA off I get crashes here and there. It usually happens when I go into full screen mode, windowed mode seems to be alright at the moment.

So it seems as if something is wrong with the AA settings, at least for me.

Now that I actually have the game up not crashing also look at this

Notice how the ui is messed up as well - see attached jpg
