Crawlers don't spawn

Hi,
when I'm testing my level, crawlers don't spawn.
I have several regular ZombieVolumes and a few crawler-only ones in ventshafts. If I debug them, they all have a number of green zylinders, though the crawler only ones usually have less than the recommended six.

Crawlers don't show up in the regular ZombieVolumes either though!

Wow. Man. I wish I could help, as you've done so much to help me and others on this forum. Besides the obvious stuff (making sure you haven't set a DisallowedZeds value prior to maybe copying and pasting the same volume throughout the map), which I'm sure you've already considered and double-checked, I can't think of a cause. Hopefully Alex or someone from Tripwire can shed some light on your issue. Is this a recent thing? Did you rebuild at some point and, since then, no crawlers?

Haha. Stupid me. I dissallowed the right crawlers for the regular ZombieVolumes and forgot about it and in the volumes in the vent-shafts I only allowed BraindeadCrawlers instead of ZombieCrawlers.:eek:

Just out of interest, what was your map like without crawlers? They seem to get at least 50% of all spec kills in my experience. I hate them passionately as a player and wouldn't lightly disregard the idea of banning them from a map. Was the game significantly easier? I guess crawlers make a significant impact on the difficulty and are hence a deliberate game design/balance force. But I have come to find them really annoying.

I'm considering having a few crawler spawns and then banning them from all other spawns.

It wasn't that different, but my map is fairly easy overall anyway and I was only playing on beginner. You can try it yourself in sandbox mode though. You can configure your own waves and play with that configuration on any map. Perks are disabled but if you are interested in the gameplay-impact you should do it.

I'm using seperate spawns at the moment as well, btw. A few vent-shafts for crawlers and regular spawns for the others. My motivation wasn't so much to limit the appearance of crawlers but not to waste them as a surprise factor. :)
