Hosting 4 servers near Japan right now, people keep hammering one of the servers, artifically increasing the player count. When this count hits ~280, the server just stops working.

Not entirely sure if this is a machine problem.

EDIT: Can confirm it is definitely not related to player count or a machine problem. Rather, the servers are under extreme loads that they just outright crash. I've been forced to allow 6 players into a server and then password protect it to prevent further connections.

Ok, this seems to be specifically happening only on my JP servers, which I assume due to the popularity over there and the lack of servers, is actually destroying my servers (along with Maria's servers).

Getting about 5 connection attempts per second on my JP servers.

Same here, the server console says 150+ players by people trying to connect when server is full, then crashes soon after. Quite annoying, hope there is a quick fix for it.

No crashdumps either.

Where are you seeing those large number of players? Mine is showing 6/6 all of the time.

I do see a ton of connection attempts in the console though.

Yup same issue on my server.
Cannot even get to the end of wave 1 without the server crashing.
And even when it is passworded and empty is crashes every few minutes.

Hate to beat the same horse, but this is happening to me as well... I can't keep my servers up more than 10-15 minutes without crashing.

The only semi-solution I have right now is to block connections to each port immediately after each slot fills up.

That's what I've been doing now... even password blocking was still getting Matchmaking connections (what). Though I completely understand this is day 1 of early access and it will more than likely die down as the day/week goes on.

It seems like connections are not being closed on server side, or they just keep sitting into the memory. Password-protected servers are even worse: it seems like connection is established before prompting password, i.e. new connections keep coming even if server is full.

As a temporary workaround we blocked all IPs except friends on our servers. It still crashes from time to time, but at least we could play ourselves.

Tripwire, what the hell? Why you aren't prepared for being top-selling title on the Steam? :p

I just hope it isn't leaving a negative taste in lots of peoples mouths about KF2. Them being hyped for it and crashing after a few rounds must suck a lot, especially in places with less number of servers probably being more prone to the crashing.

Had 40 public servers running from launch to now and 16 of the 40 crashed during that short period. Around 16 hours or so.

How would I go about that? Can you whitelist IPs directly on KF2 dedicated server, or is that something I'll have to do on network/router level?
