Hello everybody :)

I need your help with Red Orchestra.

I get these annoying general protection faults since a few days. They occur in the game very often, on every map. Then, while playing the game, it suddenly crashes back to desktop and the following error message occurs:

"Build RedOrchestra_Build_[2005-11-27_10.48]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2172 MHz with 1023MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT (9371)

General protection fault!

Please try deleting your entire RO/system folder (just the system) and validating cache please.

I've asked a coder to check the error out, but from what I can see it "looks" like bad karma data. Maybe try deleting the karma folder.

:edit:
Coder agrees to try deleting the karma folder.

I have deleted the karma folder and downloaded it by the steam programm, even serveral times. Unfortunately, the error still occurs :( What else could I try?

Alternative I got this error:

Build RedOrchestra_Build_[2005-11-27_10.48]

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2173 MHz with 1023MB RAM

:) I hope you can bring my RO back to crashless use, Yoshiro

Have you tried redownloading the whole game? It looks as though you are getting several issues dealing with Content...could possibly be mismatches. I hate to say it, but please try redownloading the whole game.

I tried today. First I have deleted the local files by the option in steam, it seemed not do delete the RO folders. So I erased the whole RO Folders and let Steam reinstall the game. The error still occurs :( Did I do anything wrong with the reinstallation?

What OS is everyone using that is getting this error? I would try right clicking on the .exe of RO and pick Run as Administrator to see if you still get the error. If you still get the error try Right clicking on the .exe and click compatibility tab and try running as Windows 2000. See if doing either of these changes anything and post back.

Also another thing to do is to make sure you have the latest version of DirectX installed, Latest Video and Sound Drivers, and you can actually install Visual C++ Redistributables for 2005 and 2008.

The second caused another problems, so I switched back without compatibility mode :(

I hope the Devs know a solution for this problem :(

BTW: How would I do a real clean reinstall of RO? When I reinstalled it, I had not to reinstall those mods, it looked like, it was never deleted although I have erased all game folders.

CrapCleaner...
Install, read the read me.
Delete RO through Steam.
Delete any RO files found in the Steam common folder.
Cold boot the computer...
Open CrapCleaner.
Run the Registry Tool.
Select anything referring to RO.
Clean.

If that don't work...

Your GPU is old, (I had the same when RO was released).
I remember having to step back the driver when the 8000x series was launched.

Try a driver that came out in mid 2006.
Might help, might not.
