Like many of you upon downloading the update my load times went from 15 seconds to 2+ minutes. I was very upset at first thinking TWI ruined KF for my rig, but then i remembered i have gone through this before. After following this guide, my load times went from 2+ mins back down to 15-30 seconds.

1) Find your killingfloor.ini file located in the steam/steamapps/common/KF/system folder (hint it looks like a notepad icon with a cog)
2) Change the cache size to better match your ram size
Listed under [Engine.GameEngine].

256 Megabytes of RAM or less
CacheSizeMegs=32

512 Megabytes of RAM
CacheSizeMegs=64

768 Megabytes of RAM
CacheSizeMegs=128

1 Gigabyte of RAM or more
CacheSizeMegs=256

EDIT BY Zetsumei: NEVER make CacheSizeMegs bigger than 256mb unless you like crashes!

Fix2: Turn of PreCaching
Also in your redorchestra.ini under [ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem]
Change UsePrecache=True to UsePrecache=False
and under [Engine.LevelInfo]
Change bNeverPrecache=false to bNeverPrecache=true
and under [Engine.NullRenderDevice]
Change UsePrecaching=True to UsePrecaching=False
and under [D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]
Change UsePrecaching=True to UsePrecaching=False
and under [D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice]
Change UsePrecaching=True to UsePrecaching=False
and under [OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]
Change UsePrecaching=True to UsePrecaching=False
and under [PixoDrv.PixoRenderDevice]
Change UsePrecaching=True to UsePrecaching=False

good luck, i didnt make this guide, im just a messenger...the following info was taking from the RO forums, i take no credit for it.

The first time you load a new map it takes longer than normal because it's creating a upl (local shader cache). Along with the new maps in the DLC several core maps have been updated (bugfixes), so they're going to want to create new upl's also. Once you've let each map load once the load times should be back to normal.

This has happened to me at least a dozen times. It'll go to the loading screen. Then just sit there. The computer gets locked. I've occasionally been able to snap it out of it (Ending the Killing Floor Process), but usually I have to do a hard reboot. It doesn't say "Not responding" or anything either... Tripwire, this is a pretty serious issue! My friends are saying they've had this happen too...

Usually happens due to a server switching maps. However, if a server that you're trying to join switches maps, it'll happen too!

That issue is either a corrupted ini file (delete your kf system folder and verify integrity of the cache.

Or its the flollowing:
Error: "Can't find file 'xyz'"
Fix: Check your launch options in Steam - right-click on KF in Steam ---> "Properties" ---> "Set launch options" and ensure the box is EMPTY - no text at all. If you launch from a desktop icon, check there are no extraneous parameters - should look like this (roughly):

Thats not the problem. It will just lock up and do NOTHING. I can't even ctrl+alt+del out of it. I've tried 3 times to get it to work. I'm not gonna even play it anymore until i get a solution that works.

Mine started not to lock up after about the third time? After that it just took a two minute load. But yeah, the first few times were a complete game lock up that forced me to alt+ctrl+delete on Vista 64.

Four gbs of ram. I know the other two definitely didn't have as much gb's as me. I am guessing more like two and under.

Freezes on map load

Freezes on map load

Hi,
Let me say I love the content of the new update however.......Ever since loading new level up, mine is also freezing on map load (6 GB ram). Never had a problem b-4. I was actually 1 of fastest on new map loads in typical teams of 6 b-4. Now I had to c-alt-d (then close and restart KF) repeatedly after waiting 2-3 minutes several times. Finally gave up on server games and played solo (w London) Still it would load the 1st time ok then freeze after I completed all the waves on restart??? Whats up, never had a problem b-4. Also noticed pistol freezes (wont fire) when pointed at zombies then works when point away, point back and frozen again?? Help

everyone who told me that he had such crashes also told me that they are using a 64 bit OS, so that might be the problem

Using XP and having the same issues, I'm 100% confident that out of all the reports of this bug that this problem is on Tripwire and not our rigs.

Did a few tests on a few friends computers.

This map change bug has spiked 1,500,505k before it successfully changed the map. I may not have taken a coding class yet, but I know a memory leak when I see one.

The problem is that Tripwire whole heartily believes that it has to do with these routers which 80% of the reported problems have not reported using these routers.

I've tried every tip and work around, even slamming the tilda key then typing reconnect over and over again. Which erroneously gave this screen. This can occur both on listen and dedicated, it seems as if it doesn't even try to change map if it cant get the required memory needed for the process. Eventually it will stop responding. I'm not sure if this screenshot correlates in any way with the actual problem at hand.
