Consider the following facts:

- when your standing too close to a wall, you cannot go prone.
- when your standing close to a wall, you can take cover on that wall
- The distance for 'cannot prone' and 'go into cover' are exaclty the same

So, the logical suggestion arises: make prone and cover share the same key. This would also free up the overly used 'use' key.

Theoretically yes, practically I can go prone behind sandbags close enough to them that I could also enter cover mode and depending on the situation I might prefer one to the other.
If the distances synced up perfectly I'd be all for it, but in my feeling, and I can't back this up with facts, they don't.

I'd really prefer it if we could just separate all of these buttons (including "the change firemode/ switch between sights and scope" button) but allow us to bind them to the same keys. And if you have to, bind them to the same keys by default.

That way people can play with the messed up controls as they are now if TWI thinks that's good how it is, but people who don't like it have the option to do what they want.

We don't really have to group other things instead of the current things and go with lesser evils here. There is a solution to the problem that works for everybody.:p

Sometimes you need to go prone as fast as you can so you mash the prone button like crazy, if it was the same as cover button it could lead to some problems. But as an option in a game menu, why not? And it'll make bandaging easier (diing of bloodloss because instead of bandaging the soldier tried to get into cover, not good).

I think its better than how it is now. I prefer a thousand times to go to cover when I need to quickly get out of enemy sight and try to prone, instead of standing still and the dreaded "cannot prone here" message appear and you probably get shot in the face.

This is a good point. At least you'll be doing something to get yourself out of the line of fire.

Of course, I would still prefer an entirely separate key for Cover.
