I've watched the latest gameplay video and that icon popping up every 2 seconds gets really annoying.

I hope we get the option to remove it completely. The icon may be helpful when you're new to the game but once you get used to the whole cover and vaulting mechanics it shouldn't be too hard to guess where you can take cover/mantle and where not.

At least I hope it's gone in realism mode

Don't play dumb, he's talking about the rest deploy icon.

Buzzkill:eek:
On a more serious note, so we will have the rest icon and the cover/mantle icon next to eachoter (or one left and one right?).

Better leave it out completely then (personal opinion)

I'm having trouble thinking of a scenario (besides being on the ground) where we would be resting the weapon and not being behind cover. maybe exploiting the length of the rifles to stand inside a room and not tell people in the street you're in there

You cannot "mantle" on everything therefore having an icon is useful, just like the "snap to cover" icon, just like the "deploy" icon that was in RO.

Even if you cannot turn it off - really...? Get a grip!

TBH, I am not sure at which statement (pro or con) this is aimed:confused:.
I might say the op, but some elements are said in the following discussion as well

If you cannot customise the HUD/turn it off/resize it...trust me...you'll be having far too good a time playing the game to give a crap about it.

I think you are missing the point, it's more about the constant flickering.
The human eye picks up on things like this quite easily and it's very hard to ignore. Personally i think it would be a huge distraction, taking my attention to the flickering instead of where i should be aiming.

If you can turn it off, good but i still think it would be annoying to relaxed realism players as well.
Rather then appearing or disapearing, how about a slow fade in and out?

Meh, it's not annoying to me - I barely "notice" it's there unless I'm looking for it.

I imagine we'll need to wait for the larger beta before we see a general consensus on it.

it did look extremely annoying....what's worse is that the HUD in this last "shaky cam" video looked to be on or near the "realism" settings as it was for the most part empty....in fact i believe in the startup screen, he had "realistic" realism settings enabled. so sure, the HUD is mostly barren, except for one extremely annoying, almost always present, flickering icon....
