I found this rather strange looking link when I googled Red Orchestra 2. Notice the "Buy viagra in united kingdom" in the bottom left corner. When I click on the link it directs me straight to the Red Orchestra 2 Overview page. (http://www.heroesofstalingrad.com/about/)
Spoiler!

Searching through a proxy also gets the same results.

When can we expect to learn the results of Phase 1?

In the future! Honest answer, that is up in the air. With a good portion of the judging staff in Germany this week, it will be a little bit of time before we have a chance to get the process underway.

Yoshiro did the rules change somewhere along the way for Phase one?

I could have sworn phase one maps only had to have Territory implemented, which is what I have in 'Bridges Of Druzhina'. I remember thinking that I'll have to look into how to implement CD for phase 2....

It says in the rules you need both Territory and CD for phase one. :confused:
"Support at least Territory and Countdown game modes (Firefight is optional)"
http://www.heroesofstalingrad.com/c...n/counterattack-map-making-competition-rules/

Come to think of it, what is the difference between phase 1 and 2?

The difference is the quality of the maps they are expecting, for phase 1 they only gave you about 2 months while for phase 2 it is about 4, basically giving you a lot extra time as the prize money is a lot more then phase 1 so they are expecting big high quality maps I guess.

I remember phase 1 as well not having CD, both of the requirements look the same now, probably changed after as $2000 is still quite a bit and it is being made official so I guess they want phase 1 maps to be good as well. Or we both just read it wrong.

So I take it bridges isn't allowed then to win? that sucks.

Good to know I'm not remembering it wrong. Hopefully it's just an error.

If not, changing the rules mid way is not very cool without proper notification.

Honestly I don't think it is going to be a big deal for Phase 1. There are many more servers running TE maps. Countdown is important, but for this first part it seems to me that the important thing is getting loads of new maps for RO2 into the game and in development. The rule hasn't changed; I remember reading it when first announced, but I doubt it is a disqualifier.

I don't think that TWI changed the rules midway. Also, I do think to remember that TE and CD were announced right from the beginning. I have only read the rules once (before today) and that was basically within 24 hours after the map contest were announced and I remember that CD was mentioned.

In the rules it says:

"

All maps must:
 1. be fully compatible with Red Orchestra 2’s current release;
 2. have full AI pathing and functionality;
 3. implement all standard Red Orchestra 2 gameplay functionality (cover slots, map boundaries, spawn areas, objectives, ammo resupplies, etc) unless the map implements a custom gametype in code (in which case all gameplay functionality must be implemented to support that custom gametype)
 4. Support at least Territory and Countdown game modes (Firefight is optional)
 5. be released to the public by the Phase 1 deadline;
 6. be set in World War 2. "
Not to be an arse, but given the rules, the maps MUST include CD mode. I should not be getting involved in this and make enemies here but I was wondering that Bridges of Druzhina didn't support CD mode while it was entering phase one.

I am in love with CD mode and pay close attention to everything CD related, so as said, I was surprised that your map, Harley, didn't offer CD up to now. I have no idea if all maps entering the contest have all the modes.

To be honest, CD mode could be skipped for phase one but I also can assume that other mappers that have included this mode would be complaining then.:(

Oh and before I forget:

It would have been great if the judging was partly done through the community. For example: a poll on the forums for which map people vote (just a poll, no commenting allowed in that thread in order to avoid catching vodes by mappers ;)).

The outcome of this poll could be valued as 10%/20%/x% of the final position of the map. That would be great.

OK thanks guys. I must have read it wrong. :eek:

Oh well if they're the rules then I shouldn't be given any special treatment for being a dumba$$ and not reading properly. :) It's not fair on the guys who did enter the CD version.

Okay, it is now the future. Where do things stand?

Judges are starting to look at the maps. Ramm had them all up on one of our servers this weekend and was playing them with the community.

Players voting for their 'favourite' map on this forum doesn't necessarily make it the best map, or the most played map, not everybody visits these forums.
I personally would only vote for a Combined Arms map,but that doesn't mean its technically the best made map.
Its TWI's contest and they are the experts,let them judge.
