Try this:

Open your RedOrchestra.ini and find:

[Engine.Engine]

then, make sure that RenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice does NOT have a ; before it.

The section should look like

RenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice
;RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=Engine.NullRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=PixoDrv.PixoRenderDevice

;RenderDevice=Engine.NullRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=PixoDrv.PixoRenderDevice

It was like that... i still can not get it to run....

Iiiinnteresting. Two suggestions from the peanut gallery:

-- Go to Microsoft.com and update your DirectX. Then run "dxdiag" (start: run: dxdiag: OK) and let it check stuff; go to the Display tab and run the tests. If that doesn't work,

-- Try putting a semicolon on the D3D9 line, and removing the one on the D3D.

No GUI controller means corrupt system folder.

Delete it and verify your cache.

sorry to bring to live this old thread but this answer is totally wrong thats because u guys missed some params (also in KF) when coding the game so when u change the language to spanish (for example) u get this annoying message :) just set language as english and use ur steam in english aswell and u guys should be fine :D
