Speaking of mechs, the new Mechwarrior: Living Legends mod is rather good. Sure, it's alpha-stage quality, but it's still fun. The mechs feel like mechs.

1866 mod for Mount & Blade. It's addictive and the guns are sweet. There's a few bugs but nothing game breaking.
Cool WW1 mod released for the source engine, really rough around the edges though. Lots of potential.

any good half-life 1 mods you can recommend (and which are still downloadable and played if mp)? something that runs with steam?
Tried a few HL1 mods a while ago but found nothing really great. Try Poke 646 (orsomething like that) it is a SP mod.

sounds nice. but do you know a little more about the system requirements? it says on the website that you'd only have to be able to run windows 2000 in order to run this... i can't quite believe it. let's say if i can play the regular day of defeat (half-life 1) just fine, will this one run, too?
You should definitely be able to play it smoothly if you can run DoD without problems.
natural selection was still being played extensivly when i had a a couple of sessions a month or 2 ago.

Now there are issues with considering newer hardware, this can be fixed by optimizing the Nvidia (or ATI) control panel settings for UT2k4. As well as using OpenGL which helps boost performance.
If you're a fan of Resident Evil and/or Silent Hill, look no further. This Total Conversion will deliver
