I would say if you enjoy intense FPS, slightly more on the realism/slower side versus a straight deathmatch type FPS (such as CS, unreal series, COD series) then definitely go out and buy RO2.

Its only 40 bucks and you will no doubt find it quite refreshing compared to a lot of the recycled FPS games out recently. Some small learning curve simply because it is likely not quite the same as FPS you might have played recently. A lot of battlefield 2 fans enjoyed RO1 when I introduced them back in the day, so if your a BF fan I would say you have a high potential to enjoy RO style gameplay.

There are some bugs, nothing presently game breaking IMO, if there are servers in your country or near your country latency is fine/manageable despite complaints. There are also some gameplay concerns such as the bandaging system, the devs have indicated some gameplay aspects of the 'realism' gameplay type are being looked into so we shall hopefully see these weak spots improve.

Most of the naysayers have come into RO2 with some kind of expectation, they have expected it to be more like their idea of 'realism' or expected something closer to RO1 and the expectation has, for some, not been met so they are disappointed and all up in the forums making a racket. For you, as a total new comer with no real idea of what to expect I think RO2 will be a very good purchase that you wont regret.

You will also enjoy alot of support from the developers, RO1 grew as a game greatly from release and the devs have indicated the same pattern will be repeated with RO2, more vehicles, maps, and gameplay improvements are expected.

First of all, thank you for all the fast responses, it seems like a nice community.
Regarding my pc's strength, it should run the game on highest quality. But you never know, it might have fps problems though it's a strong pc. (I can post it later, ram etc etc)
Money is not an issue, yet I don't want to waste my money. I haven't played RO(1), so my expectations aren't high - I don't expect it to be super realistic and real life experience alike, but I do enjoy a challenge ( I'm not a fan of ww2 mainly because of the community, too much whining and immature players).
I feel like I eventually will buy this game one way or another, I noticed that one of you stated that the RO2 community is diminished a lot, and the numbers going down. Is this a big problem? - Furthermore do you know any good servers/clans? Since this game requires a good server/clan (I think :) )
Again thank you for the helpful comments. I enjoyed your side-track discussions as well!

the playerbase definitely has declined compared to the launch. but here in europe you will have no problem finding several full servers with decent pings and teamplay.
i wouldn't advise playing on 64 player servers atm. the pings are higher with more lag spikes and the performance suffers. i usually play on 40-48 player servers, which run very smoothly.
twi stated they are looking into things regarding ping and cpu usage, so theres a chance the 64 player servers will perform better in the future.

Its defiantly low at the moment though Europe seems to be fine.. In fact the problem is now that some of the better servers are now always full and the rest are bot parks.

If it was me I would wait now and see how things progress with the MP population (the Sp is pretty much nothing more than a training level) and the SDK .

In fact especially with the SDK because if that does ever work it could make the difference between night and day. However there does seem to be a bit of a big "if" hanging over the SDK.

I suspect we should see a patch soon and hopefully more content from TWI way before any SDK things make it to the surface - hopefully they may increase the population and perhaps give us some indication of where TWI is going.

I was playing yesterday and I saw player count below 300. Usually it stays above 300 but it's on even more of a decline now.
RO1's close to dead. I'm going to miss that game...

A lot of the people upset with the game were RO1 fans with very specific expectations for RO2 that were not met. It's still leagues better than any other shooter on the market, as long as you aren't letting disappointment spoil your opinion.

I highly recommend it, especially if you're new to the franchise.

Depends what you want from a game. A tactical shooter? Look elsewhere. An arcade game with a pretense of realism? maybe. RO2 is this hybrid between tactical and arcade; maybe a few rungs above BF3.

regardless wait 6 months.

by then the bugs will hopefully be fixed, and the mods will have come out. if the community is still viable, buy it then. As of now, i can only ever find about 3-5 servers with only 1-2 being "realism" mode, when i play in the evening (im located in Los Angeles).

Skip it for now, there are better games just over the horizon.
