I got the game today and proceeded to install the disks, now Im confused I have finished "installing" and after registering my product on steam I am now in a 6 hour download of red orchestra, my internet isnt that great 1mb :(. However When I venture into my steam folder on my c disk I find all manner of important looking steam files such as animations etc, filled with data. Any help will be appreciated because I can just about take downloading the updates, but this is crazy .

Its normal. There are quite a few patches and they introduced quite a few new features and new content.
Updated maps for example have to be redownloaded completely as far as I know. Samge goes for any other files. Add to that the new files and those from the community contest and you end up with quite a file-size.

You're gonna have to sit through that I'm afraid.:(

The best way to make sure you have all you need is to down load RO using Steam.
Just hit "Activate a Game that I own" when you open Steam and enter the game license code that can be found in the RO package.

Patch's as such, are not available.

Its been said before !!!

Actually, it is downloading the cumulative patches to bring your version of the game fully up-to-date. The size of the update largely depends on which version of the game was burnt to the CDs you have - and that depends on which production run, which distributor/territory...

Realy? I wonder what vintage my disks are- i've never even put them in the drive.
I know the ger tanks were still 'hot' yellow for a fair while after i bought it...

Are you in Cape Town, I can make a backup of the latest stuff on CD, and it'll auto-update onto your installation. If you're not in CT post a request Here

There are a few guys/girls dotted around the country.
:)
