Config backup and restore

i have a backup of ROGame folder which i'd like to restore

i have tried everything, including setting permissions & making it read only

nothing works and i just can't see why.

it seems like ro2 loads the config from somewhere else and not MyGames. i have spent hours tweaking these settings and i've spent way too much time trying to restore them. this sould be trivial. please help.

If the ini file is from an older version, then there is a chance that RO2 won't accept it as it is. It will load the file, but multiple settings will be modified to fit the newest version. Making it read-only won't help, because the "updated" settings will be in memory. Making it read-only only prevents that the updated settings are written back to the ini file.

this backup is quite fresh, i'd say 2 months old. has there been a new version recently?

No, last update was somewhere at the end of 2014.

If you aren't sure where RO2 loads/places the ini files, then you can simply check this by renaming the ROGame folder in the
<Documents>\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\ folder to something else (e.g. ROGame.bla). Next start RO2. If it creates a new ROGame folder, then you are on the right location.

The new folder is fresh, so use it as a starting point.
Rename the Config folder and place the Config folder from your backup.

Next start RO2 and check if it did load your settings.

i tried that too, didn't work. then i deleted the folder again, started RO to get a fresh folder and manually pasted my configs into the files to rule out any permissions issues. didn't help either so i'm stumped.
