10th June 2010, Roswell, GA: Tripwire Interactive is proud to announce that composer Sam Hulick has signed on to create the soundtrack for Heroes of Stalingrad, the sequel to Tripwire Interactive’s Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. Sam is best known to gamers for his work on the award-winning Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 soundtracks. Sam will now be bringing his world-class talent for evocative and haunting music to setting the mood for one of the most brutal battles in all of human history – the battle for Stalingrad.

“For Heroes of Stalingrad our goal was to create a soundtrack that was fresh and different than the standard bombastic music usually heard in this genre,” said John Gibson, President of Tripwire Interactive. “Not only did Sam do this, but we were also blown away at how well he was able to nail the feeling of desperation and defiance that the soldiers in this battle would have felt.”

Heroes of Stalingrad will feature a unique dynamic music system that will adapt the emotional mood of the soundtrack to match the morale of the player based on the flow of the battle. To highlight the differences between the two warring powers the game will feature a completely unique soundtrack for the Russian and German sides.

An early version of the main theme music is now available in a video set to a montage of the latest screenshots from the game here:

Oh my Gods!!

Dynamic music based on the morale and army? are you trying to take the pleasure of playing with Aimp in the background away from me, by making such an awesome feature? =P

Edit: =)

Noice, this is one of the least expected moves for me. And especially nice as music is such a great mood maker. I love the stuff :)

Nah, the old one was good, but IMO, they are heading into the right direction with the new stuff, It has a more serious/less hollywoodistic sound

Loved the old RO music, and by the sound of it, RO2's soundtrack is going to be great. Has a good tone for the game's atmosphere and stands apart from the crowd of recent games.

Being a musician myself, I'm really glad that you guys found someone to do a sound track right for once, rather than giving us over dramatic and cliche music found in other WWII/action games.

Not to bash anyone, but to be honest I never really liked RO1's music. Maybe it was because I didn't think the synthesized orchestra sounded that great, but regardless, this (even in its early form) sounds like a much more mature orchestration.

Also the synthesized orchestra sounds much more realistic ... but wouldn't it be amazing to have a live/real orchestra record it? Too bad that costs alot of money. Oh well I can dream can't I?

music sounds very well done just from the little bit we got to hear. was this by chance recorded from a live orchestra because it sure does sound like it.....considering the level of the composer, i'd imagine that a relatively well known group has been contracted to record the tracks. :)

and thanks for finally confirming 2011 ;)

Nah it's synthesized, albeit with a very high quality digital sound pallet. I would LOVE to have access to synthesized instruments of that quality ...

****ing awesome. I love the theme music, absolutely feels like RO, except better IMO. Especially dig the singing and weeping strings. Very Russian feeling.

Thank God we got a release date finally. I really believe this is going to be the greatest shooter ever.

OMFG! This guys friggin' rocks!!! He's one of the composers of Mass Effect 1 & 2 soudtracks, which are the best game OSTs I've ever listen to in my life! Everyday I listen to at least one of his tracks in YouTube. Thank you, TWI, I think you just pleased all my OST desires for RO with one of the most epic composers of this decade in the team :D

BTW guys, check this playlist in which Sam Hulick worked in and admire its epicness:): http://www.youtube.com/user/ultddave#p/c/AC8C54E549A672C7/12/v6PMJYoaGf8
