Ya I hope they don't start lifting stuff out of Enemy at the Gates. That RPS article was a bit worrying.

Well between female snipers, AT dogs and bear cavalry they can always add summon robohitler to ze churmans, as well as possibly something Wolfensteinisque-stuff like ancient nazi zombies and Heinrich!

RPS chat with some developers. I feel reassured after this article that we're not going to see what happened to DoW 2 be repeated in CoH 2. They seem to get what made the original so good and they aren't planning on over-turning (much) of the game play mechanics. When they talk about tanks punching through walls changing game play, it makes me confident that terrain destruction is going to get the level of fidelity that CoH had, and DoW 2 completely threw away.

We'll see. Imo, it's much too early to say anything, other than the graphics seem to be on par. :)

Well, I guess this answers the question for me. Here's the highlight reel:

"..blocking detachments to keep soldiers from fleeing the battlefield..."

"...The soldiers faced the prospect of fighting not only the Germans [...] but also the brutality of their own forces..."

"---its a big part of the campaign, its a big part of the narrative and the experience..."

Well ***, gonna have to try the demo if there is one. But this just fell hard from my day one list. I cannot even imagine trying to slug it through a whole campaign of dealing with this at every turn.

Going to watch that tomorrow, but what the hell are they planning to do? You press retreat and lose your infantry to 'allies' instead of the Germans? :x

A total guess on my part, but I would imagine a blocking regiment to be a unit that you build yourself and place behind your frontline troops so they don't succumb to morale swings. I dunno.
