CoH was full of 'stereotypes' and 'murica!. The fact the left/communists are upset is hilarious. The communist officers were ruthless, and rightly so, since it was their lives on the line if they failed. This image of the 'glorious ussr' is nonsense, Relic did a good job getting across the illogical BS of it all and the cheap value put on life.

And America isn't guilty of plenty of its own illogical BS that its troops paid the price for? Funny, the only war we ever see that in is Vietnam and today's wars. For the US, WWII is still the great, patriotic endeavor where we saved everyone's asses. I think all the Russians really wanted was an iota of that same consideration for their own struggle. Instead, they got the only thing everyone ever remembers: how bad their officers and command were.

Which misses the point of the ****ing game title, which CoH 1 did not. Perhaps CoH 2 should have been called "Company of Cannon Fodder: From Russia With Love Comrade Order 227 Edition" Then everyone's expectations would have been set correctly.

The campaign is so atrociously awful, I don't understand how the voice actors were able to say their lines without laughing.
I guess some people just don't know anything about history.

I thought the single player in coh was fine. I think people just over react too much. Its there as an excuse to blow stuff up, nothing more.

Difference is the "merica" stereotypes in coh 1 were relatively positive. The stereotypes for the russians are negative and also pretty wrong. While some movies and the game show that the russian officers would gladly sacrafice their own men and shoot them when they show a sign of doubt, this is pretty false. The Order 227 (no step back) was pretty much only followed in stalingrad and nowhere else.

by the way, germans had penal companies and barrier troops before USSR and soviet penal companies/batallions, barrier troops were based on german system. And it wasnt "ruthless" just because this order gave chance to those soilders who must be shotted for desertion/retreating without order/ etc. And soilders were in penal companies only untill they will "pay by blood" ( that means any wound in fight - get bullet in hand for example ) or untill 3 months will be expired. After serving in penal company soilder get his old medals back and may be even new for serving in p.c. And penal companies werent equipped by method " 1 rifle on 3 men " like some people like to say, of course p.c. were usually used on harder places, but they were good equipped for getting hard target. As you can see on my photo, this penal company has all soilders with PPSH + heavy

The bigger problem with the game is the MP balance. Its pretty bad in 1v1s right now, but not as bad when you have larger games.

Devs stated the game is primarily balanced towards 1v1 and 2v2. I really like larger 3v3 or 4v4 battles, although it tends to favor the german side with the lategame tanks. I usually check the propagandacast channel on youtube, it has a good source of 1v1 and 2v2 battles.

Excuse me? It is exactly the other way around! 1v1 (and to a slightly lesser degree 2v2) is pretty balanced, 3v3 and 4v4 are spamfests like in ANY other RTS and can't be balanced by design.

The sh1t storm that the Russian fanatics did start on the Internet and especially on Metacritic, including death threats and insults of the most disgusting type, didn't really help in getting them any sympathies. In most of the discussions in the official forums they did also manifest a very weird conception of history that did not help in taking them seriously.
