What are the factions like compared to CoH1? Is it gimmiky **** like PE/british or closer to American/Wehr?

Did anyone else on these boards play competitively Id love to hear what you think of the game. I drifted in and out of top 10 1v1 Wehr but never won any tournaments. I remember posting a lot of stupid strats on GR.org too lol

So now, CoH 2 will have several different collector's editions, I see. And best is that they are trying to sell different carmouflage skins as an extra? That to me means that CoH 2 will not be (completely) moddable. Pair that with the in my eyes insufficient gameplay of the series and it's a no buy for me. Not even for a discounted price.

Well you are a native speaker, right? So which part of my post didn't you understand?

I just read that there will be different Collector's editions. Also digital collector's editions. One of the benefits these editions will have is 24 different camos for tanks that are not available to non-collector's editions owners.
Now if the game was moddable, people would simply make skins and so, the benefits of the collector's edition were nullified (why paying if you can get it modded for free?). Counting 1 and 1 together, looks like vehicle skins cannot be modded in the game, which goes in line with the feedback I read from game testers.
Now I haven't read anything about if maps could be modded by the community, but anyways, it's too late, since I am no longer interested in the game.

Generally the maps will be officially added as patches, just like how coh 1 has huge amounts of community maps that were added through the years. They already said no DLC would ever separate the community, no maps as DLC ever. Just useless things such as skins for tanks and single player mini campaigns.

Too late. I'm already boycotting this game and pirating because that's the way it is. Any excuse will do. Like I did with Killing Floors and RO2!

I would rather play Halo Wars than this corporate ****! PC #1 purist here.

I was astonished at your conclusion that unlocking skins for vehicles = game unmoddable. It will be modded, unlocking stuff has nothing to do whether a game can be modded or not. It sounds like you were never interested in the series to begin with judging by your vague dissatisfaction with the gameplay. So why tell us that you're not going to buy the game?

I am pretty sure that modding will be restricted. I was interested in the series. COH 1 was fun for some time because I purchased it early but never really played it in the first 12 months after purchasing it. Then I played with 3 friends quite extensively for some months. However, the gameplay, for me, quickly wore off and the depth of COH was very limited imho.
I had hoped that COH 2 would take a step into the right direction and first and foremost, get the laughable aim distance of tanks right. This has not been the case and all trailers and info I have seen about COH 2 make me feel that the game will stink. First reviews (previews) I have read basically confirm my thoughts.

If you are a fan of the series, good for you. Enjoy the game. If you have a problem with reading my thoughts, ignore my posts. I don't understand why you seem to take my posts personal, really. I am not out for trouble.

if you are playing coh for historical accuracy, then i would not like it either. But i just like a good RTS, and it is a great RTS with great gameplay. It just so happens that it has ww2 skins. It could have NOD vs GDI, or protoss and zerg skins for all i care. a Great RTS is a great RTS.

Theres beta going again.

I don't know about this one. It just feels really sluggish compare to CoH1, like controlling your troops and the feel of the battlefield was much tighter. Maybe needs some more time to used to it.

For some reason, they took away the Tiger tank in the second beta phase. The commander that had it is still there but instead of a Tiger you can order an Elephant (makes more sense actually since there were only 90 built compared to around 1300 Tigers). But you can't build the Tiger in the heavy panzer building. So its now totally out of the game....I assume this is either a slight oversight or will be added back in on release.

However they did change some things. Fires have a much shorter radius now, and mortars aren't the ultimate killing weapons they were before. They act more like they did in the old CoH. I think they also reduced the costs of the T-34...of course the manpower penalties that make its generation slow to a crawl kind of hurt this additional advantage though its not crippling. Special order troops and vehicles are now ordered in by the command bar rather than production buildings, so you can have penal battalions as well as Guards/shock troops/whatever the other ones are. I like the penal troops, you can get a lot of free XP by using their satchels to blow up free weapons/vehicles left by dead crews on the battlefield.

All in all I'm loving the game, can't wait to try out SP and those special missions that let you play as the Germans in a mini campaign type thing...Theater of War its called I think. The effects of snow on your troops, the troop chatter (there's more than a few references to the original company of heroes) as well as the madness of screaming troops in combat. And oh yeah, lots and lots of artillery blowing things up. If you have a headset, with good bass, you're gonna absolutely love the sound in this game. I give it five stalins! :IS2::IS2::IS2::IS2::IS2:

Disliking the huge difference between the Panthers and the T34/85's. You'd think tanks both classed as "Medium" would be somewhat similar in terms of durability / damage. Instead I have to use TWO T34's, one to ram the Panther so that it is completely disabled, and the other to park behind it to fire shot after shot into its supposedly weaker rear armour. This is because the Panther simply kicks both the T34's in the buttocks in a straight out trading shots fight. (Hell, the damned things go toe-to-toe with the IS2 and only come off a teeny bit worse)

Other than that, fairly fun. Ruddy hectic though with the AI, even on Standard difficulty. 8 out of 10 times I get pushed right back into my base and lose. >.>
