ok before i get into this i just wana state that im in the process of getting a new rig and im in no way saying that my current ancient setup should run this game well.. but it runs crysis 2 no worrys at all and it looks pretty darn sweet too and yet it will barely run ro2 on lowest graphics settings and 1024x768 resolution.. heres my 6 yr old system specs, note the only thing ive ever upgraded is the graphics card..

amd dual core 4400+
geforce 9800gt
2gig ddr400 ram
wd 500gig hdd

ok so i guess my question is whether or not its running the game this way because the game is not yet fully optimized or just because ro2 is more demanding than crysis 2? btw i very much look forward to playing this game on ultra settings in glorious HD !

tia Jooce

edit: i should state also that i get an average of 25 - 30 fps on danzig and waaaaay less on barracks and fallen fighters.. this is with every graphic setting on minimum.

I'm no expert on hardware (Faaaar from).
But games like Crysis 2 was clearly made for consoles. Those types of games often doesn't require much.
Just like Bad Company 2, Bulletstorm and Human Revolution... I can run those games a max (Or high or whatever the max setting is). While I often have to use medium/high on games developed for PC.

Get windows 7 and upgrade to 8 gigs of ram

I have a mid range system i5 650 dualcore @3.2ghz 8 gigs of ram and a gtx 460 and I get 40-50 fps an average at 1650x1050 rez with everything on ultra but shadows its on medium.

Im no computer nerd but from what I have seen from people with similar specs to mine the ram is the difference in fps.

For what it's worth, I also have a 9800gt and am able to play at 1280x1024 native with settings to high and get a steady 35-40 fps. Very rarely dose it ever dip below 30, only if major artillery or something, still very playable.

i7 920 2.6 stock
9800gt
6gb ram
Vista 64bit
Audigy sound card

I imagine your cpu might struggle a bit. do you have a sound card to off some of the load? also I notice my system is using about 3-4 gigs ram when playing, maybe 2 gig isn't enough if your system hogs half of it.

RO2 is a true PC title, it likes ram and a decent cpu. The fact is your CPU is old and you have only a bit of ram. You should upgrade both.

"True PC title"? Listen to yourself, please? The game isn't optimized properly and that's a fact. Also, that is a normal thing since it is still beta. The wisest thing you can do is wait for the game release and then make upgrade decisions :)

And don't forget the basics either. Make sure your C drive doesn't need to be defragged and has enough space on it. A clogged up C drive will make a game unplayable in a heartbeat. I like to use CCleaner to clean up unneeded files and registry entries. I built my rig back in 07 and I've never had a hardware problem running a game. I have had a few compatibility issues with my dual core processor though. I'm really not looking forward to the day I have to build my next system. ;)

Nothing is really wrong with his PC setup. Unreal Engine 3 should run games very well and even better on PC's that can run Crysis 2 and BC2.

TWI has ALOT of optimization to do, especially for the AMD CPU's looking to the bug section.

First and foremost IGNORE everyone telling you to upgrade so you can run the game, that is NOT necessarily the answer.

We know there are performance bugs in the Beta, so it's better to sit tight and report what you can to the devs as they continue to roll out patches.

If I can run this game at a playable frame-rate of 30-40fps at all times with everything set to Medium then you can run it with those specs well enough.

My antique hardware:

Asus P5K Motherboard
Dual Core e6750 @ 2.6ghz
3gigs Corsair XMS2 Ram
ATI HD Radeon 4870 512mb
14 inch internets p3nis.

I have an old dual core, two gigs of ram, and a 9800, and I ran RO2 like a champ on Friday. I haven't been home this weekend, so I haven't been able to try the changes in the beta, but his system is just fine. Just don't crank the graphics way up and you'll be a-ok.

Edit: It strikes me that most of the people complaining about terrible framerate are trying to run it at ultra settings, which Yoshiro has flatly stated will murder your framerate. Just turn the graphics down a touch. The game still looks good, and it's actually playable.

Dont forget to add the tweaks. It changes a very minor bit to your graphics but probably gives you +10-20 FPS.

Half the people here don't know what they are talking about.

Minimum:
Processor: Dual Core 2.3 GHz or better
RAM: 2 GB

Whilst there are performance issues with the Beta - You need a better CPU and more RAM. And if you aren't running Vista/Windows 7 then you need to be.

You can't have a 6 year old system and expect it to run a brand new title really. You are lucky if you can run newer titles on such an old spec.
