The AK is very easy for me to control and has a great sight. I can pop off 2 round bursts consistently with it. For some reason the la85 is actually harder for me to keep on target in full-auto. I agree about it having too much spread and I'm wondering if the recoil pattern is different or if it's just the fire rate.

AK12 always. As much as i have love for the "best of British" SA80 the KF2 version just feels...weak its not a particularly fun gun to handle i find at the moment. :(

The sound effect isnt crunchy enough so its not satisfying to use. I find as some people say it feels overall harder to handle. The AK12 feels great in both burst (which is bloody glorious) and fully auto and it has the handling and damage to back it up :)

i like taking the AK-12.

the Burst feels very good (unlike borderline cancer like the AR-15's Burst), putting solid amounts of Damage downrange quickly.
it's kind've short on Ammo sadly, but switching to Auto for Ammo conservation helps significantly. the low RoF makes firing single Rounds pretty easy.

i'm really not much of a Bullet Hose person so not surprising i don't like the L85 much.

AK12 is too expensive to take with SCAR. Its ammo costs more, holds less of it, is less accurate than L85, no single-fire ability to help conserve ammo, has a slower rate of fire on auto, and has much more recoil than L85

My hand comes equipped with a single fire option.

Scar + xx loadout

Scar + xx loadout

I guess I'll go with the "other" vote. The scar really is a must have but the secondary for me depends on how the team is doing.

Good economic shape = AK
Economic struggle = SA80
Serious Economic struggle = Single fire/Backup Scar + 9mm.

Another perk is doing a great job maintaining trash = Pulv.

I normally run off of SA80 -> +Scar but I have swapped accordingly depending on what I see is missing. Not taking a Scar is something I haven't done yet though.

I like to go SA80 and SCAR. I used to use the Bullpup with the SCAR a lot in KF1 (though I ended up preferring the MKB42). I primarily use the SA80 to hose down trash zeds when they're getting close, and spend the rest of the wave zapping trash with semi-auto SCAR fire, flipping to full auto when a big zed gets out of control.

I'm mildly disappointed with KF2's Commando in a couple ways. The reduced ammo count aside, I kind of miss the old Bullpup's laser accuracy. But there are those rumours about a perk with a P90 on its way.

Anyone really notice a movement speed difference worthwhile by only taking one assault rifle along with dual 9mms (backup perk skill on)?

I ended up needing to use knife quite a bit in later waves. A bit messy for my taste.

I'm not saying that's enough ammo or anything but I was messing around with it over the weekend.

I'm indifferent. :D

p.s. I'm trying to make myself use scar more often but both the ak and bullpup just feel so much smoother when firing (says a lot considering the ak has a nice kick to it in its own right).

I have been using a new load out. The Scar as my main weapon and the crossbow for secondary. The Bow is to either one shot Husks/Sirens and the stun for Scrakes/Fleshpounds. Two bowshots on a scrake with a full clip of the Scar gets the job done. On trash a single shot from the Scar micro manages my ammo. I have yet to run out or be desperate.

every unit of weight used decreases your movement speed by ~0.5%.
IMO the ~8% from fully weighted to empty is very difficult to notice as long as your Health isn't low.
at low Health though, you're getting to ~15% slower, and that's definitely noticeable.

I knew that my knife-only zerking was quicker than usual! I knew it!

This is good info to have, 0.5-8% less movespeed sounds like it can make enough of a difference.

With Mando though I would still fully load up on a SCAR and SA80, alongside a GS sidearm. Single T&W.500 is light enough to carry alongside those if I remember?

Though looking in here I may have to combo SCAR with Xbow for the Scrake headshots!

Interesting update. Now that the AK effectively has more ammo than the bullpup, bullpup mainly has cost, recoil, and rate of fire going for it now.

I wonder if this might sway people's preferences?

Absolutely.

Even money aside, I used to generally prefer SA80 over AK12, because AK12 had two fewer mags to work with; fewer chances for the commando niche ideal, 1shotting crawlers and trash heads. AK's damage only felt worthwhile when needing to be especially ready for lots of targets requiring multiple shots. (eg solo or bad team)

But now that AK has a mag more ammo than SA80, AK really feels like an upgrade instead of a sidegrade, better in any circumstance. Grabbing an SA80 for a few waves along the way is a fine option, but when I want and can afford an ideal loadout, I won't be considering SA80 anymore.

There are still downsides, but price is the only one I feel is significant.
AK is slower in full auto and has more recoil, but that doesn't hinder single taps much, and for targets needing multiple shots, the damage more than counterbalances it. Burst mode can make those small downsides into big upsides instead, at the cost of wasting up to two rounds per target despite your best efforts: good option for tough stuff, bad for trash.

SCAR+AK+Offperk3, or SCAR+Offperk9 will be my usual endgame commando loadouts now.

I don't buy the AK on HoE under normal circumstances. I'm a single fire/backup commando.

Ooh I like the offperk3/offperk9 descriptors, I may have to adopt that so I can remember weights when building!

Yeah with the update I take the AK - he was most affected by ammo changes I think, alongside support, so I had to play with the AK as a liberal primary. It's a fun rifle, for sure!

I take the AK now but I must say I am equally likely to take the SA80. As fun as the extra ammo is and how it's made AK much more of a choice, I can't deny how nice the SA80 feels and sounds as a kind of beefier HM-201! Smooth full-auto control which allows accurate full-auto fire when ADS. Depends on what I need now: SA80 if I am specifically looking to keep trash far away (blasting clusters at head level) or if I am looking for power at the cost of being closer up and less accurate (AK primary).

SA80, simply because I could never get used to tap-firing reliably and accurately in full auto mode over clicking my mouse as fast as possible while in single fire mode. The AK-12 doesn't have single fire at all, so I don't get any benefits for it with the perk skill of 20% damage bonus for single fire modes. Add to that the fact that the game actually bumps up the recoil you experience from every shot when in auto-fire over single-fire, and my choice for the SA80 becomes pretty obvious.

Admittedly, though, after the ammo change to the AK-12, I do grab it for the boss wave, since the boss is a prominent target and I can afford to spray. Any time else, the AK-12 is just an expensive gun that feels inaccurate and forces me to change to the appropriate perk skill so I get bonus damage with it.

I feel like i'm the only one who uses the Medic Rifle with the SCAR. Because it weighs the same as an SA80 and Medic Pistol, I feel that having the Medic Rifle will get the job done just as well as your tier 2 AR, except with the added benefit of a faster charging battery + 30 battery units per syringe.

Well i could imagine it being decent if your teammates REALLY need the healing, but damage-wise there are better options for your money. SA80 is much cheaper than MedAR and does comparable damage while AK is still cheaper and does even more damage.

However unless you find yourself constantly healing teammates all the time, i usually find medpistol to be enough, since I'm usually killing things with SCAR and SA80/AK12. (Though I've been taking a katana instead of medpistol almost always now)
