Commando Perk Requirement Change

Hey all, I'm a fairly new player to KF and am pretty fond of the commando perk.

There is one thing about it though, and I've done some reading and know that I'm not alone in thinking this, the Stalker kill requirement is pretty damn hard compared to the bullpup damage requirement and is imo one of the most frustrating things to level up with normal play.

I'd like to propose that the Stalker kill requirement is drastically reduced and in its place comes a high amount of Crawler kill requirement with the bullpup. This way the commando will become less frustrating to level up and it will also give newer and/or thick players more reason to play the class as its intended purpose: A support class that keeps the smaller threats off the rest of the team.

Anyone with me?

The requirement was higher before but then TWI lowered it with a patch. It seems ok right now, I'm almost level 5. But yeah they could replace the Stalker requirement with Crawlers, that would help Berserkers a lot. Crawlers spawn more frequently than Stalkers though so they'd have to increase the kill requirement.

On the other hand... The AK-47 is on its way, playing Commando will be much more satisfying.

It used to be 4000 Stalkers, so I wouldn't complain about it. Actually, it was pretty easy to get to lvl 5 after the change. :)

For increasing your Commando rank, think Biotics Lab with 4+ players. For some reason it has a lot of Stalkers stalking around. ;)

I am looking forward to the new toys too, I am actually itching to get my hands on them.

The current 2400 requirement is still too high.
With friends who let you kill 90+% of all stalkers on a private server, you can still only get 80-100 stalkers / hour on the better maps (west london, biotics, manor). Thats still 24-30 hours purely to grind the stalker requirement.
With the AK47 coming soon, the damage requirement will be slightly easier because it still takes a while with the bullpup, but then the stalker requirement will once again seem very steep in comparison.

The community has been screaming out to Tripwire to change the kill requirement to stalkers/crawlers instead of just stalkers but they just won't listen.

In the time it takes to get commando to level 5, you can do level 5 support, sharpshooter, berserker AND firebug. Thats just plain retarded when it comes to balancing leveling times ...

And maybe we shouldn't be complaining about commando. Maybe commando is balanced and maybe its all the other perks that level too fast. But the balance is definately off and something should be done.


TLDR: Commando still takes 4 times longer to level than other damage dealing perks.
easy solution: change kill requirement to stalkers/crawlers instead of just stalkers
annoying solution: increase the damage requirement on all other damage perks to make them level as slow as commando.

add crawlers to requirement. 2000 stalkers and 1600 crawlers would seem fair and still by no means easy...... i'd say that killing 1600 crawlers would be about equal to killing 400 stalkers and would be more reasonable for players to complete. plus, it would reward commandos for doing what they do best, which is keeping those crawlers away from the berserkers and snipers at close range.

oh, an acheivement for killing ex. amount of crawlers would also be a good addition.

I think there should be more Experimenti????cide-achievements in general. I must have killed off millions Speciments by now. :D

I just got all 3 experiment.... achievements on my second account which I have only been playing for 4 days or smthing :p

@OP: commando is ment to be leveled way slower, because it is actualy one of the best perks really, it has easy ways of killing ANYTHING except for scrakes and patriarch with a cheap gun and cheap ammo

its just a mean perk and it should be hard to level

Damage is the worse, I'm still stuck at level 3 because it take so long to get 1.5m damage! I'm still on 1.2m.

I got Commando up to level 3 on my last account and I have to say that I think I always met the stalker requirement before I met the damage requirement. That might change at level 4 or something, but I think that people playing as commandos just need to be more aggressive in their hunt for stalkers while helping take care of crawlers. With Zed-chaining and a steady hand it's not a bad perk.

One easy way to kill stalkers is to Play on KF_Manor and to stay on one of the 2 small wooden bridges leading to the large shack where the shop is located. Stalkers and crawlers always spawn there on this map. You usually can hear them a few seconds before they drop down.

It's really not that bad, honestly. 2400 kills go by fast, my last 600 went by in one solid night of playing. I had them before I had the damage requirement, that's for sure. Personally I'm having a tougher time dealing so much shotgun damage for the Support specialist class than I did getting Commando to 5.

Can the perk be changed to crawlers as well as stalkers. Its taking forever. Crawlers would be valid since the commando should be picking them off as well from range.
