Just wondering, one thing that annoyed me in RO, was when I was a commander, not being able to point out to my teammembers where exactly an ememy soldier, tank e.t.c was, i.e I could say the house over there, to the north, or E6 but as a commander surely in reality I would have been able to place co-ordinates on a map, also I could type E6 infantry, but then 5 seconds later the comment would disappear and those that spawned 5 seconds after I typed the comment would be unaware of the spotting.

Will it possible to place enemy position co-ordinates on the map as a commander / tank commander?

That could be pretty nice, I have been annoyed in some games that you can't place markers on map that tells what there is.

Er, you'd need radio to tell everyone. I suppose any unit could spot a unit, run over to radio, and report his position. It'd be unrealistic to automatically tell every enemy's position just by looking at them or something. I mean if Recon plane can spot from air and uses radio, why shouldn't infantry need radio to tell positions on map?

The current scout aircraft mechanic is that if the commander is close to a radio he hears the reports, those reports then get communicated to squad leaders a few seconds later, and a few seconds after that to everyone else on the team.

Unit sighted markers should work in a similar way. For a bottom up report the persons squad would see the marker after a few seconds, then the commander, then after that the other squad leaders and then everyone. Its slower and means that there might be a 20 second lapse between your placing a marker of a tank and your team knowing about it. I dont see this as a bad thing as it encourages Commanders to use those bino's to spot enemies

I think this is a great idea! +1

of course you should NOT see the enemies automatically on map if you spot them (ala battlefield).
You have to open your map and set a marker on the position.
And if you set your marker wrong then your info is inaccurate - just like in real life. That would be RO style!

We proberly need markers just for priority targets like enemy Snipers, SL, MG, and tanks - not for normal enemy infantry...

I do however think there should be possibly a pencil circle mark in the general vacinity of infantry though.

Possibly Commanders could mark it on their map to which nco's would then be notified on their own maps where they could then tell their troops where the enemy is located - or perhaps not.

Maybe a fixed number of markers representing the amount of players in the opposite team of said class. Ability to move markers other people have placed with maybe a line marking the last movement. But maybe the map gets to cluttered that way on 64 player servers. And there is the issue when the icons should disappear.

Another thing I think commanders should be capable of putting on the map is arrows suggesting different squads direction of attack. Giving more control to the officer and letting you know where your allies are attacking from too.
