So I tried following the guide here and noticed that when I combine meshes they then go "invisible" and seem to not exist anymore (i.e. I cannot select them anymore). Is there something wrong with combining meshes?

iam not sure if the information is still current, but it isnt possible to combine stock meshes. only possible with custom meshes.

but this info, is over a year old and the sdk was updated since.

did you know how to use prefabs? there some tiny tricks you need to checkout, to have fun with prefabs :)

the do the same thing, like combining a mesh.

Wanted to bump this thread for any novice map makers like myself.
Select several meshes along with any other actors: lights, blocking volumes, etc and then right click and choose create prefab. You will save the prefab to your map package and can now place this as one selectable item to place later in your map. Saves a ton of time if you have several similar scenes like stock buildings you will use often..
