I can't wait to get the physical manual. I can't even remember the last in-depth and informative manual I've gotten.
Just gotta love page 151.

Tell me, when was the last time (if ever?) you've seen a game manual with a chapter dedicated to modding and the tools?

If I am completely honest with myself, I have to admit that all the little missions I made in CMBO were just to blow up nazis with a billion rounds of 16" artillery fire.

A friend and I used to make attack/defence QB maps and play each other on them. We had a few rules going into their construction, mainly;

- There needed to be a rear and forward placement zone for the defence, and the defender had to have 30% of his forces in the forward zone at map start. This was to simulate a defence in depth scenario.

- Capture points had to be spread evenly across the map, this way the defender could not just isolate the minimum he needed to hold out and stack defense there.

- When we played we also had the rule that you couldn't purchase infantry in units smaller than company size (excluding specialty stuff like pioneer and weapons platoons) and tanks and vehicles had to be bought in platoons. We also abided the genteleman's unit selection ruleset to counter the super StuG/undermodelled 76.2mm issues in CMBB.

It worked pretty well, we had some real ripping battles and would take turns setting up maps. Your ability in attack certainly gets sharpened when you are playing like this a lot. I hope CM:N allows the same level of flexibility.

Also Battlefront's release delays are making me cry, just want to put that out there :(

I remember a custom made Operation from CMBO times, I do not recall the name of the operation, but it depicted the 21st Panzer Division's attack against the invasion, the attack took place only a few days after the initial landings, and the whole of the division wasn't employed only 1 full regiment and parts of another.

Anyway, the operation was brutal, at first you star out with fully equipped units, good armor, good quality infantry, etc. The first phase of the operation wasn't all that bad, made good headway with few losses. By the 3rd phase of the operation I was facing naval artillery fire, Churchill tanks, AT guns, Fighter Bombers, etc.

On paper I had an entire regiment (in game yes, huge OP), by about the 5th phase of the Operation the size of my regiment was about 2 companies of men (I suffered huge casualties), and only 1 Tiger, and 2 PZ-IV operational.

For the 6th phase, I gathered all my men, and the 3 tanks and made one last push for a strategic hill overlooking the entire battlefield. Murderous naval fire 14 inch guns, overwhelming firepower and overwhelming numbers of the allies barely allowed me to even try and attack, but I did manage, just barely.

I reached the top of the hill eventually, with about 25 men and one PZ-IV. The Tiger was immobilized, but in a decent spot where he still provided fire support. The Operation was intense, and based on an actual, historic even of the 21st Panzer division's counter attack to try and throw the allies back into the sea.

In the end, I managed a draw, but in reality, it would have been a defeat. Sure, I reached my objective, but it cost me the entire regiment, and if the allies counter-attacked with the same support they had, they would have been able to eject me from the position with ease.

I am hoping for such OPs again.

There was one more OP I remember being intense and well designed. I remember the name of it, "We fight and die here". It was based on the 12th SS Hitler Youth division fighting in the Ardenne Forest.

Just buy digital version, like normal people. But ya, really unprofessional on their part, even if it is just 3 guys.

It's more than 3 guys now I think, don't they have about 5 full time people now, which is not much of a difference I guess.

Yea, I am just getting the digital version as well, I would love to have all the other stuff, but oh well. Still looking forward to this.

Sucks for you guys, but it seems the real issue is European post service gouging.

The real issue is that BFC failed to make it clear that pre-orders won't be shipped from their European warehouse and that buyers would face additional fees and taxes due to that.

It's just a damn box :D.

A nice looking box, but a box all the same .

Personally I already have too much junk cluttering my room... digital is the way 2 go.
