Pretty complicated, afaik. I recall coming across a certain Pz IV photo from 1940, I think, which had a somewhat rare Panzergrau w/ brown camouflage, which looked like solid Panzergrau on greyscale - but I'm sure Defekt will be able to shed some more light on the process. :)

What's the process behind doing this anyways?
I use a free Photoshop equivalent by the name of GIMP to produce the images. The process is rather too longwinded to explain here but below is a link to the tutorial I used to learn the basic process.

Once you've got the basics down it's a case of playing with the settings on each layer until it looks right.
