Regenerating health- seriously wtf?
Nade threath icon- again, seriously, wtf?

You never played a single CoD game before, have you. Those are in the previous titles as well.

As for this demo, I liked it for what it was. I know it's more of an arcady experience, but it does it well. Far better than MoH: Airborne could ever dream.

The MP experience was an absolute blast on the 360, and if I didn't have a chance of getting it for free on the PC, I'd certainly pick it up for the 360.

There is more than enough room on an xbox controller... There is just no reason to set anything on anything other than full auto, when all you need to do is to spam people to death. This isn't a tactical shooter. Get it in your head.
Guess what, you can't set the MG in Quake 3 on burst or semi. Blasphemy...

It was pretty cool actually. Weapon and player models are a blast. Best use of depth of field i have ever seen in a game (first game where i'd actually leave it on). Runs surprisingly smooth.

I can't see myself playing the singleplayer campaign more than once but the multiplayer could be very good.

It was decent in the aspect of having lots of things to shoot, but other than that I wasn't impressed at all. CoD2 runs and looks better than this, and kinda plays better too. The demo level was scripted to the point that you'd be better off watching a CGI movie. Also, why is there a little pond in the center of a middle-eastern city, and what kinda moron tanker would drive into it?

Well that's CoD for ya :p

I though it pretty much played exactly like CoD2: lots of heavily scripted "shooting gallery " firefights. Like said, i can't see myself loving the single player, but multiplayer might be fun. I also like how it supports penetration by default.

I could send you my 9100 I still have sitting in a box. It would make a better coaster than card though... in fact it made a better coaster than a card back when I was playing Generals on it.

I have a nasty habit of picking up those weird non-supported cards that fall between generations. The 9100 was like a 9000 but no game had "official" support. The same goes for my nVidia that I have running. It means I have to use witchcraft and a half an hour of tweaking to find out what settings I should run at.

Caen and the 3rd American mission in Cod 2 were my favorite Cod levels. They allowed you to clear the towns they were set in any way you want.

Earlier this year I really enjoyed COD and COD2 playing them back to back.

Arcady gameplay, but fun singleplayer campaign. On the hardest difficulty level the games are appropriately challenging. Bottom line for me is they are fun and cinematic. The Russian campaign in COD2 is especially memorable.

COD4 is more of the same, and in my opinion that's a good thing. I'll wait for the RO devs to come out with a modern warefare version if I want an optimized realism/gameplay balance.

I won't be buying this game on release, but I will probably check it out next year when I can crank all the visual options.

I have a feeling shooting any 5.56mm weapon feels like a cap gun considering how little momentum the bullets have.

Can't we ever talk about any games without criticising it for it's realism?

To an extent, yes, but since I like games like ROOST, I want to hear reviews from people who would prefer a bit of realism in their games.

What that means is I am more likely to listen to good reviews by players in this forum than another forum where there is a good review by red-eyed 13 year old johnny whose hands are permanently cramped from holding his console controller...:D

I downloaded it, but I heard that you can probably go thru it in about 10 minutes. It will take me way longer to install and later uninstall and wipe all the associated registry entries out. Probably won't even try it...

If you're playing it online, the chances are that (just the same as COD2 etc) you can remove threat indicators, console warnings etc. We used aftermarket realism mods to do that on our servers. As far as weapon sounds, after 7.62 mm and such, 5.56 weapons DO sound a bit puny. I know that my old SLR had a much meatier sound than my SA80. The thing to remember is that just like MOHAA and COD etc, the realism settings need tweaking as from the outset, the games are aimed at a different audience. It worked for MOHAA and COD. I thought that it was promising but after getting humped by Airborne, I'd like to see the how it pans out on multiplay first.
