Does anyone else like the fact that players can't get out of the tank after they get it?

Anyway, I'm hoping all of this means tanks won't explode by default like in RO1. More like Men of War with tanks being knocked out and the crew dying, but the tank not exploding 100% of the time.

Yeah. I think it sounds great for tankers and more realistic use of tanks. It would really be great if they have functioning pistol ports, or of the commander could use an SMG when unbuttoned, but I doubt we'll see that in game.

While 32 v 32 tanks would be epic, it might be really fun to have a server running with 16 v 16 with 2 players per tank. No real point in the hull MGer on a tank only map. I wonder if you can set up a server to force team tanking like that.

What will happen to the bodies? Will we see dead crew members when they get hit and have to push them out of the way? Blood all over the interior? Or will they just magically disappear and leave the tank spotless clean?

I've said all that I know sadly.

So can you guys tell us if we'll be able to control the turret with WASD or at least have the option to do so? I've been playing a bit of FH2 lately and it reminded me how awful it is to control tank turrets and AT guns with your mouse.

Regardless of the above, I think I'm going to love Gumrak :D

Actually no, because there's 1 tank for each side. After the DLC there will be 2 tanks and 1 transport vehicle for each team, but it's still unknown how the future vehicle-spawn will work. ;)
Sorry, I wasn't completely clear. I mean if you want to be in the same tank as your friend (not the same type of tank, I know there's only one type of tank for each side on release), how can we choose to be in the tank with our friend, rather than in a tank all of our own? Will each individual tank have a "squad" that you can join so you may co op in a tank with your friend or will you be forced to have your own tank with only AI? (I'm guessing we'll be able to choose who we're in a tank with, I can't imagine being forced to have your own tank with only AI.)
But, Oh my :IS2:! 32 tanks vs 32 tanks! Don't think I can comprehend the awesomeness that will bring!

You can't get out of tanks in general, even on combined arms maps. So in that sense, it's sort of a tank only "game mode." You do have the option of team tanking, which would bring the total numbers of tanks down from 64, while retaining 64 players.

32 v 32 will be World of Tanks done right.

32x32 tank battles?

Have to start learning tanking tonight in RO1:D
Never bothered with them but this sounds incredibly awesome.

Also, the fact that your body stays for a while after death in the tank, doesn't mean it won't disappear after a few secs. Also I read nothing about AI's shoving a body aside or something.
So don't expect that all animated (would be awesome though).

I am sure TW will come to their senses and patch in a bailout function eventually.

Here is the problem with that... You bailout of a burning tank right? now you're a crewmember with a crappy pistol in the middle of enemy territory. So instead of actually tanking like the much coveted Tank crew member position should be doing, you're walking around as an infantry and not doing your job, its like a sniper running around hip firing instead of peaking out windows, or a Machine gunner using his pistol, its wasting potential.
Even if you want to get into another tank, you have to run 3 minutes back to spawn dodging bullets along the way, but wait, you a smart crewman right? You should just type /suicide and get back to spawn and get into the tank ASAP like a true tanker! So wait....

Good job TWI!

Yeah lots of fun burning alive, right? Or when the tank gets stuck somewhere, but hey you can't get out! DERPPP

I rarely get tanks stuck anymore in RO1 because I'm not new, and most of the footage I see of tank crew bailing out, well, they were already on fire/had an arm was missing. It doesn't matter by then.

basically tank combat has been revamped and will certainly be refreshing change, but no more tank hopping I've heard
How about the ping pong matches or overpowered ptrds in RO1? Have these things been revamped in RO2?

Instead of parroting old TW excuses it is more likely that they lacked the technical knowledge to implement bailing out. Tankers fighting as infantry did happen, in Stalingrad ironically, but to deny the chance of survival by bailing out is fundamentally flawed and impacts other things like bailing out to inspect if your tank is properly covered/hidden by foliage/terrain wrinkles or to observe the landscape from an immediate ridge while your tank is hidden on the downslope. The excuses seem to come from infantry only player types who will avoid tanks with a 3 meter pole.

its wasting potential
That is for the player to waste or not waste.
