Happens to me on the 2nd to last drum, double drum or belt. It's 20 bullets I think. Don't know why it happens.

It happens with the C96 pistol too.

Becuase unlike other games where ammunition is magically stored as a total number of bullets, RO models the fact that you are carry a certain number of magazines.

So if you reload your MG before emptying the first drum, that drum with a few rounds in it goes back in to your inventory. So eventually when you reload again, it will be put back into the gun, albeit with only a few rounds left.

This is unlike other games which simply model how many rounds your player has with them, not how they are stored (ie, telling you you have 30/120 rounds)

This is a bug and has been reported. I can fully empty the drum I spawn with and the next drum also. The 2nd reload will always be close to empty. So basically you spawn with a close to empty drum.

No I actually think this is a bug. I'll have to test it more, but seems like even though you have a fully loaded mag, it will load a half empty one.

I've had it happen to me with mg34. I reloaded, got the half empty one. hit reload again and it put on the full one. But Guess you could accidently grab the half loaded mag, so not sure if its intended.

Like I said Ill try testing making sure I don't have any empty mags and see if it happens.

It happens even when you don't pick up any ammo and use up all of the rounds before reloading. Use up 2 full drums, then you load in a near empty one, then you load in a full one.

Surely the near empty one should be last anyway?

I've had this happen to me with the DP-28 too. Shot threw a couple of drums and then loaded the 3rd one only to find that some practical joker had swiped most of the bullets out of it back at the barracks.

If you don't empty the drum before you reload, you'll put the almost empty drum back on your gun once you run out of full ones. Could this be your problem?

EDIT: Nevermind, read the thread. Ignore this.

Think it's caused by 'Ammo distribution' in the class stats which is a percentage. So you're getting a percentage of a magazine, it doesn't only happen to MGers so I'm guessing that's the cause

EDIT: that is to say, it works on the basis on how many rounds you would have normally(3 drum mags) and than increases that by the ammo distribution amount. so 150 bullets x 0.10 = 15 extra rounds in your '4th' drum mag

One possible explanation is when you level up your class you get a ammo distribution % boost, well 10% more ammo doesn't mean you suddenly get an extra drum, so maybe you get a half drum?

Just throwing out ideas

See this bugged me about RO1 aswell. Everyone carries around an unlimited ammount of MG ammo?
Uhh think you missed the point. Ammo distribution stat refers to how much ammo you spawn with, not how much you can hand out. You can only hand out one MG resupply per spawn

but when its related to "ammo distribution", why is it the 3rd drum not the last.

seems a bit weird to get equipped with a "close to empty" drum back at the supply doesnt it? it would be more logic to spawn with one drum less then with an practically useless one with a few bullets in it.

I think it would be pretty cool if you had a key bind option to simply throw away a mag or drum instead of recycling it. Would prevent issues like this.
