Could be that countdown has a limit for riflemen, but territory will have unlimited number of rifleman slots.

Class limits is the best feature ever. I'm sick of having a full team of snipers in BC2 and a full team of snipers and spies in TF2.

Even if I'm late to a game where I'd most likely get a rifleman slot it wouldn't bother me. Hell I'll most likely choose rifleman anyway. Kar98 ftw

Other than possibly tweaking them by yourself server-side; I'm pretty sure they change according to the number of players (or player slots) on the server. Since there were like under ten people playing on the TB demos, the class limits were very low. Expect to see them automatically increased on large servers.

For example; Ostfront has three levels of limits per class. This would be low player numbers (around 15 methinks), medium player numbers (25?) and high player numbers (40+?). Check the SDK for the exact ones. ;)

ya I hope they dont have limits on classes; I hated having to get stuck with a class (weapon) that I absolutely hated ...

That's the main point of RO; otherwise it turns into a useless wookie fest a la Bad Company 2. Anyway:

1. It's dependent on the server settings themselves, which the admin chooses.

2. It's dependent on the gamemode; firefight is one with no limits so you can mess around.

My only concern is that I'll never get to try a sniper rifle since whoever gets there first has it for the rest of the game. Not really fair is it?

It's ok to play as a different class but I foresee a bit of selfishness when it comes trying out some of the more desired classes.

If you notice when you play RO1 that class limits are nesisary or we'll have 16 commanders trying to call in artillery 22 machinegunners in one building or 33 tank commanders with 1 tanks. It doesn't make much sense supply wise either.

I think who gets what class was to be determined by the commander, votes or rank. Not sure which one(s), but I'm pretty sure it's not just "first come, first serve" basis.

As seen in the beta theres something that can make you switch with another player we saw that in TBs first video I think

That's what I'm concerned about as well, I don't want to snipe 24/7 but I do feel like using it sometimes. Do we know how many snipers are allowed in a full server?

I agree with that (happened to me 99% of the time), but at the same time, I don't want to play against a team of 15 snipers and 15 automatic weapon wielders, either. I can play that on Black Ops, and one Black Ops is more than enough for me. Besides, this is set in the earlier stage of the war in the East, and facts is facts: most soldiers carried the standard issue infantry rifle.

I say leave it like it's always been -- realistic. Just don't make it where the "superstars" or the people who live on the game or have clan rank or standing get to hog access to the squad and platoon level weapons. First come first served sucks when you come in after most others, but I don't see any other way to do it fairly.

Keep it realistic, but fair. I don't see how anyone can argue with that.

I hope that's not true. Who'd wanna play on a clan server they didn't belong to? Who'd wanna play on a public server where a bunch of buddies decide they're going to take over the game and stick it to everyone else?

Is there an official souce which might clarify this issue?

Its probably a server option and since there was only about 6 people on each team, there was fewer classes available. So if you had 12 on each team, there would be twice as many classes available, and so on.

One of my favorite thing about the Red Orchestra series that it limits people from playing specific classes, I personally hate when I see half the team playing a sniper class

No, what he said is not true.
If you play well with your bolt action rifle, you can get battlefield commission which allows you to have priority over other players when selecting your class. Wilson gets this reward and chooses the G41 rifle in the first video. This works in countdown, where each new round the players have to scramble for their favoured roles.

This is exactly right.

Although I know many people who choose to stay with their trusted boltie. It's a fierce weapon in the hands of the right rifleman.... but not me. It requires skill to use that I seriously lack.

If there are no class limits in the territory gamemode I won't be playing this game for long.
Had enough 50% sniper teams etc. in BFBC2 to last me a lifetime tbh.

I almost always played rifleman in ROOST & DH mod so yeah, gief class limits plz.
