Civilian or other vehicles?

It would be nice if mappers could get some German/Russian civil vehicles, as the RO static mesh department for that is sorely lacking (we get what, a tractor?). Cars, trucks, both intact and destroyed are things that would be great to have. Obviously I'm someone who needs German civilian vehicles and possibly an Opel Blitz for my map, but I figure if anything is made one may as well expand the horizon past Berlin so that future urban maps may have something to populate them aside from broken Tigers.

It would really help :eek:

The man who made Leningrad had some really good trolleys, they are stock RO meshes now, but I remember you said you respect his work so you won't steal it, why don't you just ask if you can use them. It would probably be taken as a complement.

Yeah, there are way too many halftracks.

As for civilian cars, since you seem to have good relations with the DH team (seeing as you have their PaK 41/43 and all), thay have a static civilian car modeled and textured (it is a French Citroen though), you could maybe use that? Also there are alot of destroyed truck models.

As for the trolley barricades, those would be really sweet, maybe you could even find a way for the tanks to push or blow them out of the way? Or maybe a Saper, besides, the Germans will get the Pioner for the destroyable PaK walls anyway. And besides using them to mark off out of bounds they could be placed in the street every once in awhile, maybe as part of a destroyed barricade?

I'm not going to start taking if I can't start giving back, and obviously I can't give back since I haven't the time for dedicated mapping work. College pwns my life. :(

I'm guessing your last part in regard to the barricades isn't for Kriegstadt? I was originally going to have barricades but thought about the disasters that would erupt if the Allies had a noob Saper, as well as the fact I wanted to keep satchels out of the map as they would be used for anti-infantry room clearing instead of destroying obstacles.

Also, better that I use Halftracks instead of Tigers eh? In all honesty though something like 50% of the HTs in the map are supposed to be cars or trucks of some kind, right now they are just placeholders more or less.

EvilHobo, if you want to use the trolleybus go ahead, it's stock content now and I would love if people found use for it in other maps. There is also a Gaz-M1 car in Leningrad as well that could easily work for your map. The body is 1300 polys (I believe) with a separate wheel mesh of about 100 to allow for customization and optimization. For example you can bury the wheels in debris and then remove them, or mix the look up by having a spare tire on/off, or blow off some of the wheels and have them lying around. Anyways, if you're interested just let me know and I'll send you a dummy map with the meshes and non-winterized textures, which you can modify if you feel they don't fit with your map. I'm not sure if I still have the non-winterized skin for the trolleybus but I'll have a look, if not you (and anyone else) have full permission to create your own texture for it. :)
