I would like to make a couple clarifications for those who seem to misunderstand certain upgrades, the zf41 on the g41 for example. It isn't a weapon upgrade for the G41 available to 'elite rifleman', it is an entirely separate entity for the 'marksman' class, referred to as 'G41 Scoped' in profile stats. The first upgrade for the marksman's scoped G41 is a 4x optic, which would reward those who choose to use this weapon with a much better scope. Also, this does not replace the scoped kar98, it allows a choice of which weapon to use just like any other full weapon unlock.
In regards to 'shift zoom' and it making magnified optics obsolete, this is incorrect. While using zoom/controlled breathing feature, you are actually seeing the environment in nearly 1:1 scale with reality, that is to say using shift-zoom is 1x magnification(no magnification). While not using shift-zoom, you are actually zoomed-out to provide you with peripheral vision, probably 0.4x-0.5x. the amount of zoom gained when using iron-sights without shift is actually less than 1x, likely around 0.8-0.9x zoom. Therefore, 1.5x magnification is 50% more zoom than using shift. Likewise, a 4x optic is 4 times more zoom than holding down shift, not 4x zoom of 'standard' fov.
Anyway, I voted for, fully endorse and expect that TWI will indeed implement the ability to choose which accessories are applied to your weapon of choice. Upgrades that would, in reality, require gunsmithing skills or rezeroing/boresighting to apply should probably have to be chosen in the main manu, before entering a match.
