The Source mod Age of Chivalry is going big with the help of the UDK.

If anyone here was fond of AoC, this is definitely something to keep an eye on. From what I've read, they are devoting all their work to this new project instead of developing further content for the old mod.

The screenshots and everything so far look amazing.

Yeah I've heard about it. While I never was a big fan of the AoC mod(I always prefered PVKII) this certainly looks like it could be awesome.

Yeah it sounds like they're going to be able to implement a much more detailed and complex damage model.

Personally I'm hoping they find a way to make each class truly viable.

I can't wait for this game. Not to mention I love the Unreal engine. As Hockey said, the game is much for suited for Unreal anyway.

Age of Chivalry is a Source mod (you have to own a game like Half-Life 2) based on Medieval warfare between two fictional factions. It's a lot of melee combat, with arrows and javelins mixed in. It can be fun once you get the hang of it, but it can be frustrating as a new player. Especially if you're playing on a server with friendly fire enabled.

Imagine "Battlegrounds" (American Revolutionary mod) bayonet fighting - constantly. It was that irritating :p

It seemed to suffer with far more choke/lag etc than other source mods in my experience, and as a result I stopped playing...this stuff looks good mind.

Remember that recommended is for an optimal experience. After recently upgrading to 8GB, I've noticed a lot of games pushing over 4 GB of memory usage. I never experienced any trouble before that though, so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

8GB seems a bit unreasonable for a UE 3.0 game more so given by what is shown in the screenshots and videos.

Played quite a lot of Age of Chivalry a few years ago. While it did have problems, it was actually quite fun and took it a fair bit of skill and practice to become good at.

Looking forward to what they can do with the new engine. Hope it turns out well. *fingers crossed*

(wanted to upload some fraps, but seems I've lost the footage of me playing as an archer, got quite good at that after a while :p )

i didn't like the mod but that's because I'm generally not a fan of the source engine

this looks fantastic though.

Wow I was pleasantly surprised by this trailer.

I think this was a mod made by a really talented team that just didn't have the right tools at their disposal. From what I see in that trailer they're clearly off to the right start this time.

That's my impression of the team too. The Source mod always seemed to be too ambitious for what the engine was capable of.

They are a very small team at the moment but they seem to be on the right track, hopefully more people join up and help out.
