We answered this in the last TICR! The TL:DR here is we do not believe that this is something that has enough desire and audience to make it worth pursuit at this time.

They answered in previous TICR about new characters.
In their words, for now they have no plans on adding new characters to the game.

This has been asked and answered. Currently there are not any plans for further free weapons that are not part of the HRG set. This is part of a change as we move away from a crate and key system more towards a season pass and direct purchase system. This change was made based on player response and interaction with the crate and key system and how it changed over time.
