Hey folks!

Something I have always missed in RO2 along with Full Body Awareness and facial animations are chinstraps. There is a reason for them, so the helmet stays on your head. Dive to prone with it and you can chase that box while under fire.
Adding straps should not be an issue.

There would need to be a chin strap for each head model and it would need to animate on its own and with the face.

That's the issue.

I believe that adding something like this would really add nothing to the game for the amount of effort put into it. By that I mean if you are going to put effort into modding something into the game, most people would say to add something that affects actual gameplay. How many people would even notice this unless you tell them about it, and then even care?

Other than that, its hard to argue against if especially if someone is modding this for the players for free.

I still wish for facial animations even before Body Awareness. Chinstraps move with the face when you talk. It's absolutely cosmetic and does not change how the game works except it's visual impact. Seeing pain, fear, aggression or compassion in fellow soldiers' faces it would add to the immersion.

I'd agree with the facial animations because we know they were at least partially completed, and when we sometimes spectate other players, we are looking at the insides of players' mouths. It would definitely add to the immersion.

I was noticed of this a long time ago, and I agree fully with Raven, it would be positive for the immersion and realistic, and I nearly forgot, straps for the weapons

You might be able to add a chin strap but not attached under the chin, just have the two halves hang freely from either side of the helmet. Probably wouldn't have to remodel the head, just the two helmets.

Any animation of course takes time, yet it prolongs the life of the game as graphics do matter and even Call of Duty released in 2003 had rudimentary face animations, they missed chinstraps however.

RO3 is not gonna happen anytime soon so we should improve on what we have already. :)

I don't think face animations are happening anytime soon.

Heck, the Rising Storm characters don't even have actual mouths. All their lips are welded shut.

It takes a bit of time to add them to the helmet meshes. We have some in IOM but they are not exceptionally well-modelled.

If TWI were to do this they'd have to commit their art team for a day or two, and really, what profit would they make out of it? Nobody is going to 'buy the game' over a helmet strap.

I'd say if you can find someone who will do them really well (a community member), they could do them for all the helmets in RO2/RS and ask Tripwire if they'd be willing to patch that community-made content into the game.

People today buy games mostly for graphics. No matter how dull the story is, gameplay comes on 3rd or 4th rank.

If RO3 is already scheduled for release next year we do not need to invest further, but right now graphics are good except the stone faces. They drag down the immersion if you have an expressionless human screaming in pain, something is missing.

Yea...at least an open mouth animation upon death would be nice

Started, but never finished. And that's only for RO2. The RS heads are completely empty.

EDIT: Actually wait! They DID finish it!

All the RO2 heads have full face movement for all voice lines, they just never use them. Absolutely terrible.
