Yeah we need to have an option to turn this off, it reminds me of bad company, which was crap.

It adds nothing to the gameplay either, just annoys me while Im trying to creep around with my friends.

I think this is a huge problem because

The devs have obviously put alot of hard work into getting those 3000 chatter lines, this is not disputed but i feel that it's going be a case of "we put so much hard work into it we aren't willing to change or go back on it"

Personally ether there has to be an option to turn it off
or it's taken out completely and just replaced with a "battle chatter taunt" which will play numerous different taunts + the options to select a number of taunts yourself if the situation calls for it.

People taking hits or being injured should always play a noise though

That would be a shame. And no one wants it gone totally, just the option for each player to disable it if they don't want it... Alas

eh?
TWI is probably smart enough to know that there are people who are sneaking around in teams.
Jeez, why does everyone of you seem to think that TWI is a bunch of morons don't knowing their own game and community? I can come up with two different systems to give sneaking players the possibility to keep sneaking in RO2 in practically no time (use different volume levels based on team member count around you, activation/deactivation of battle chatter based on more variables than number of team mates around you) and I am not an experienced game developer. TWI is probably smart enough to figure something out.

I'm sure they can figure something out, but for the time being all the information we have is:

The feature actually checks if there are team mates nearby to shout reload to. If there aren't any, your soldier will not call out.

So what about if I want to flank the opponents with a small fireteam? Every time we stop sprinting we all let each other know that we are tired by shouting it? Every time one of us needs to reload he yells loudly, even if we are sneaking around close to known enemy locations.

I don't know, this just doesn't make sense.

(Russian tactics during the battle of Stalingrad) Sneaking:

http://www.oocities.org/rf_mikael/stalininf.html

Enjoy!

This also clears up a lot of "grenade" questions.

One solution to the "unwanted voice" problem is to block "shouts" while walking (sneaking).
I assume we have walk, jog and sprint. No voice when walking would be it.

Another U3 engine game, America's Army 3, has full volume voice commands when moving at a jog, and everything's whispered when in a walk. Simplest fix, though any kind of reduced volume comms means more recording work.

What I find a little worrying is that since that post a few days ago TWI hasn't addressed any of the other questions asked in this thread which I think are important to be answered. I appreciate they are probably really busy but this is almost feeling like they were so caught up with the 3000 lines of spoken word they missed out on how it would impact the wider scope of gameplay (sneaking/hiding etc).

I'm all for a taunt type button that triggers the lines but removing control from the player in this circumstance is not really ideal as far as I happen to be concerned.

I really hope we can get some clarification!

Thats really their problem if it comes to that, I mean thats why theres beta testers, they should ask first before going ahead with something.

Granted its thier game but if your going to to sell it to the public then maybe they should get feedback before the commit, and finalize stuff, its still not to late, game is stil in beta, they are getting alot of feedback already from the forums itself, and they sure will get more feedback when the beta is out for all those who got the deluxe preorder, they have their chance to change stuff.

Shouting gives peoples positions away like hell. I don't want to be given away because someone here me say "I bet slow down" or "RELOADING" when I'm all by myself getting a really nice flank. THIS IS WHY TAKING CONTROL AWAY FORM THE PLAYER IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. Oh well. Learn the lesson the hard way when this game is released, and there will be a million threads *****ing about it.... Not to mention hearing different voices in one life coming form you is horrible in it's self, AND the dialogue for some/much of it is just cheesy as hell. Worse than being cheesy, it's totally unnecessary. "I'm tired" or "I'm scared".

Added:

Also as far as voices only being triggered when there is a friendly near you. Two things, so if i am in another room, and there is a friendly on the opposite side of the wall, would I still scream out? If so, then that is bad. Secondly, I usually play RO/DH with my friends, and we are the flanking around type. We usually stick together in groups of two AT LEAST. So In RO2, if I'm going around, playing with my friend, and I am an MG, and my buddy is a rifle to help protect me, and we are in the process of getting a flank, and something happens were one of us screams because two teams mates are close to each other, that is also VERY bad.

It's GOTTA be a server side option AT LEAST.

Even if were just a server side option to turn it off, your basically going to gamble when you load the server lists, unless an server admin put specifically in the server comment, no shouts or something.

Make it an option for both server and client, client should prevail over server though. if I hav the option for the voices off, then the server shouldn't be able to override that.

This discussion is rather stupid as to where its going, its very obvious that the majority of us dont and wont care for the feature, I dont understand why this new voice atmosphere is so important ingame, I mean unless your play SP only then I can see having it but in MP its not functional.

As i said in a previous post if your in a clan and or realism unit, they/we use our own teamspeak and ventrilo so these voices would be a impediment to the function of what they/we do already at least in realism we do, I do.

To have voices randomly or when a friendly is near by and I got to really lean to assuming the enemy players close by can hear the voices.

Leave it for SP, as they AI are prob to stupid to recognize that an enemy is right by them.

It's been said multiple times that voice commands won't trigger if team mates aren't nearby.

At 3:50 in the video the player is semi hiding in a blown out room with a russian nearby. He peaks down to the floor below him where you see a german running. You then hear the russian on the players level start firing, at which point the player blurts out "I know they are close!"

Uh yeah. But who are you talking to and why would you give away your position like that when a russian is not 20 yards away?

Yeah I hope this can be turned off.

I can remember so many times I've got the jump on a player in Bad Company 2 because I heard him yell out something.
