... why do you have an automated DDOS attack script sitting on your desktop?

lol.... I bet that "Untitled Folder 2" Zip file is loaded with "Boun'Chicka'Woung'Woung" videos :D

On topic: I'd like the idea for uniforms to be customizable, but so long as they are limited to what was worn during the actual battle.... there could be 20-50 some odd uniforms per country, but say only 2-4 helmets, uniforms, etc. to choose from.

It'd be a little silly to have an african-based german uniform in the Russian front.

I think I remember seeing an Unreal Tournament 3 mod with the ability to select different faces, body types and clothing through a simples selection mode of presets - so obviously it is within the realms of RO2s engine.

Sturm

Sort of.... while there was a pile of models to choose from, I noticed that the moment you died the first time or changed class in the mod, your character changed..... and then changed again, and again..... it didn't work very well as when you spawned, you became a new character and the model you picked only lasted for one life. (Based on my experience in RO for UT2k4, not 2k3)

Or maybe it was just me.

German and Soviet uniforms are so incredibly different that no matter how much each is customized, you will always be able to tell friend from foe. The colors and the shapes are just so different.
The issue isn't seeing the differences of uniforms in RL, but the inability to distinguish these differences as rendered with pixels.

i say no because it would take wasted man hours making such content for which essentially achieves little or no gameplay advantage or enjoyment for me (and this is my vote).

what is the TF2?

i mean i turn on ro2 to shoot in an immersive setting not stylise my dude and connect with mates

I dislike the idea of "player driven" customisation, but more variety and historical accuracy (i.e. propper uniform and field cap for german officers) would be very nice. Camo covers on some german helmets (by random), camo uniforms for snipers, etc. would be nice.

The point: I do not mind how my avatar looks like (since I do not see him), but I want to see propper and realistically variable uniforms on my mates and my enemies.

BUT this feature is "nice to have", while increasing realism (see endless threads about MKB42 swarms) is "a must".

I also believe the only facial customization and mostly weapon customization (Appearance and different scopes, not gameplay-wise) should be available. Anything that will let people squeeze maximum effectiveness compare to others will just ruin the game...

And if devs wanted to have there these gamey "weapon unlocks", I would rather prefer character customization as a reward for longer and better playing (i.e. rifleman lvl25 receive camo cover on his helmet instead of bayonet).

Well said, I agree.

The only reason I voted NO is because I would rather see a REAL Realism Gamemode before this.

Are you kidding me? We have enough inadvertent team killing as it is without everyone wearing a different uniform.

What ever happened to our characters looking more badass as they leveled? Until it is proven that this is no longer the case in the game I don't think we need character customization. It would be cool to a certain point. If the options were limited to gear that an average soldier would have, or any sort of trench mods they might do to their gear than it wouldn't be a problem to authenticity. And as long as the cutomizations were still clearly identified as friend-or-foe that wouldn't be an issue.

Something that would complicate this is, the difference between snow/non-snow maps. TW would need to create a considerably larger amount of gear to customize.

Yes, but only if faction uniform colors and helmets remain distinct and recognizable, and the bling/flair doesn't cause lag.

64 players each with multiple unique blings would cause so much unnecessary lag....

Also, such bling would only make sense if obtained from Campaign mode, which is under development.

About clothing changes, I cannot agree on such idea since soldiers usually wear almost the same clothing based on certain environments, I don't want to see a guy wearing a urban uniform on to a winter battlefield.

BUT...there is always a but..
Face customizations is always acceptable (I bet if this gets into the game, a bunch of people will troll around with this option..)

should only have a small amount of difference. I say give the option to customize helmets, and MAYBE add flecktarn on certain maps with SS regiments.

There were no SS units in Stalingrad...

==============================================

Another note on helmets, no one answered a question (page 4) about why and when to wear a helmet.

First of all, not even modern helmets give full protection against bullets. They are protective headgear to prevent injuries from shrapnel, debris (falling rubble from buildings etc.) concussion etc.

Now... anyone who has been in the army knows you wouldn't want to wear a helmet at night/in darkness while on patrol.
At night/in darkness you rely on your ears. Helmets distort loudness and the direction of a sound.
They didn't have nightvision goggles/scopes back then (no, please don't start about Vampire nightvision equipment, that was much later in the war).

Maybe not combat troops, but their is a possibility of certain auxillary troops such as wagon drivers & horse leaders being supplemented from SS rear-achelon units.
