How would you guys feel about the following weapon distribution?
Assault: MP40, PPSh
Rifleman: K98, Mosin-Nagant
Elite Rifleman: G41, SVT-40, MKb42
Machine Gunner: MG34, DP-28, AVT-40
Engineer: K98, MP40, Mosin-Nagant, PPSh
Squad Leader: K98, MP40, Mosin-Nagant, PPSh
Commander: K98, MP40, Mosin-Nagant, PPSh
The AVT-40 should be in MG class because it was an attempt to make the SVT-40 help fill the urgent need for more machine guns, which were lacking in the Red Army. It was not a very successful attempt.
The MKb42 should be in the Elite Rifleman class because assault rifles were a replacement for the overpowered (with the weight, recoil etc that comes with it) bolt-action (and sometimes semi-auto) rifles issued to riflemen. And of course, it was a rare prototype in field trials. Only a a small group of competent soldiers were first issued the weapon.
The G41 and SVT-40 should not be made available to squad leaders and commander, because traditionally these leaders focused on leading their men, using a easier to carry weapon for self-defence primarily (i.e. an SMG or carbine rifle). The marksman/senior rifleman types with more competency were given SVT-40. The G41 probably was so rare that almost no one had it, but if anyone gets it, it would be the elite riflemen, capable of using its extra capabilities fully. Also, there are so many specialist weapons already, making bolt-action rifles too uncommonly seen.
