That's not for Tripwire to decide, that's the German government and it's the citizens of Germany that are responsible for putting those in office that screw them over. They should've paid closer attention to their platform and values. What I'm saying is that Tripwire did a very classy job of handling the situation and gave those of us with the uncut version the option of using the new cleaner version.

Whooooo whoooo, dude..........

1. Gamers are a tiny minority here in Germany

2. There is no mainstream party (that get's over the voting limit to get into the parlament). That supports us.

So blaming "the Germans", while many people do that is not correct here. I am not responsible for the majority of voters. All I can do is vote and support the Piratenpartei yyaaaaarrrrr.

Also many americans and british gamers talk about what is legal and what's not in Germany even tho they got no freaking clue.
You are allowed to import games and play them, no matter how much blood and gore there is. You cannot however sell them if they are banned.
So just release a cut version for the german market BUT make sure we can play the uncut.

NOW that is no problem, or at least it wasn't one until L4D2. They gave the germans new weapons and removed the security and forced that onto every client.
Now I am pretty sure that could have been avoided by doing that a bit smarter. However they could have also just said: "Ok this censoring is ****ing moronic, we just don't sell L4D in germany and let those guys order it from the UK, AUS etc. so they can enjoy the game! We love all gamers!"
Now we all know the only thing they care about is money so......

Also, I wonder why a security guard would be such a problem since we have GTA here and everything.......

yes, yes and YES!

PS: KF sold for months and months on steam to everyone. germans were able to buy the uncut version of KF along with the rest of us, but why now suddenly germany has to get a uncut version? isnt it a little late??

I think TWI just wants to sell the game publicly here. Steam seems to be a grey zone regarding games.

Also steam could just do an age verification system for uncut games, I can buy weapons with a scanned passport so cmon.........

One thin is clear tho, if these games become illegal here (let's say after the next 2 school shootings) then the **** really hits the fan. I can all see it in front of me......

Someone wise once said (not word for word), "Once a law is introduced, it is very hard to get rid off it later."
So I highly doubt we will see more liberal (OMGZ LEFTWING!!!!11) gaming laws.

I love my country, I even sing the full German national anthem (officially only the third part is sung). But politics here are ****ed up man.........a Politician here even compared violent games to child pornography.....so go figure.

ah ok, so to sell the game in stores, they have to sell the really bad version. but why is steam's KF for germans changing??

dont most germans know that buying games in stores = no gore/violence?

if most germans know this, and instead buy it on steam, why doesnt TWI know that germany will go to steam before the stores?

The thing is not everyone is a hardcore/true gamer, many of the "gamers" go to walmart (for example) and check the shelve. They do not check sites for games or play much indie games for example. Even on steam many only play the popular titles even tho they would enjoy other stuff too.
Selling games in stores = more profit, more sales.

A movie that runs in many cinemas gets much more attention and later much more dvd sales, boondock saints for example would have been much more successful in cinema.
Now a movie buff knows about most movies released, and especially the ones that are considered good.

But movie buffs and true gamers are a minority in a minority.
