Cannot complete squad training...

I started playing the SP to get used to all the features and controls, but I'm stuck on the squad command tutorial (4th mission I think).

I get to the part where you place your rifle team on the left of the fence and your MG on the right. Then it asks you to order your assault team to "Attack the first objective" and the tank in the field flashes gold... I cannot for the life of me progress passed this... I thought I would simply assign the assault team to the tank by bringing up the command reticle and sending them there, but they just run over and do nothing. There is no obvious way to order an attack vs a move order... am I retarded or is there something sketching out??

You need to select your assault team with the X key, hold down B (or whatever it's bound to) to bring up your command menu, move your mouse over Attack and then to Objective A or whichever objective it is.

I did the first, but couldn't do the 2nd one..lol.

Then I got bored and just when back to multiplayer.

I can select my assault team, but when I press B (have remapped to V) it brings up the in-world reticle, which is a downward-pointing arrow and a ring on the ground. There is also a small menu top left that displays the currently selected squad, and says "Mouse 1: Move/Attack" and "Mouse 2: Artillery".

I don't understand how to command "Attack" instead of move. I can't select "Attack" anywhere, I can just click and the selected squad moves to the position of the reticle. What does your command menu look like? It sounds like you're describing something similar to a Crysis suit menu... but I get nothing like that.

Alternate fire just melees and there's no controls in the map when I open it... This is such a weird un-obvious thing to me. There are 2 keys for squad control but it's unclear how to attack... Ahk!

Try opening voice command menu (or command widget as it is called) and attack -> select objective.

It's broken like the rest of the campaign.

The campaign is so dull and uninspired it's just 12 vs 12 countdown throughout all the missions (yes all, German and Russian).

You need to use the commo rose if you don't directly target the objective with your orders reticle. Ordering all the troops to attack or defend objectives is way easier that way.

It's not the down arrow icon thingy.

Go into your controls and find the key set for your command pop up menu. I rebound mine so I don't remember what the default key is.

When you hit the key, an oval menu pop up appears on your screen which you select the various menu items by clicking with a mose pointer. I'm on my DSi right now so I'm going by memory.

Anyways, when the menu is up, you'll get a number of options. The top left option is "Attack" while the top right option is "Defend"

When you highlight either, depending on what objectives there are available, another pop up will appear for those objectives which you click.

You don't need to be in view of an objective to command troops to attack or defend, nor do you need to point and click on anything on the map area like you were doing in the tutorial above.... just bring up this menu and click what you need.

You use this same process when you're a squad leader or commander in MP.

Bind this command/key to some key you can easily hit when needed, because once you get used to everything, you'll be using it a lot.

There is also another communications menu that operates the same way, which has other things, such as requesting support/backup and many others.

Update:

In your Controls, it's called the "Command Widget"

Set that to a key or remember the default key. Hold it down and select the option you want by using your mouse pointer.

Wow, ok thank you. That is the kind of instruction the game needs to have built into it. I was able to carry on. I didn't pay attention to that key because it's not listed under the command section in the bindings, it's in the communication section so I thought it was just for a list of speech options. The other problem is that the on-screen instructions only show the default keys, not the keys you have bound.

Indeed, the on screen instructions don't help too much when you re-bind your keys.... and since I use the arrow key setup instead of the WASD setup, very few of the original key bindings are the same.

I just finished the Russian Campaign just a minute ago actually (though just on recruit so far ) so if anybody has any Questions about something, just let me know and I'll do my best to explain things as best I can.
