can you make platforms move on there own?

I was thinking about trying to make a map where you would have to dodge traps and jump on moving platforms while fighting zeds at the same time, the only problem is i don't know how to make objects or platforms move back and forth on there own the whole time your playing the map.

I'm just wondering if its possible
