Oh man... How do you even play online games on 1 mbps?

I live in Europe's biggest ****hole and I am on a 40 mbps line.

Imagine starting out at 300 KB/S five years ago and being amazed when my town gets access to 600kb/s. Downloads took hours, but I'm on 3-6 mb/s as of a year ago now cause I'm in a city, but still.

America's network aparantly is crap in comparison to many other countrys'.
Or Germany. Yeah, gotta love my 2 mbit connection for 60 bucks a month.

My parents are still stuck on 600kb/s and no plans for the town to upgrade are on the horizon.

Get wrecked

Release Time

Release Time

Are there any plans for a midnight release on Monday night or should we expect a later-in-the-day release as we had with RO2?

4gigs still takes awhile...because you know....not everyone has 20mbps connection

personally I got 4mbps and it takes awhile, i know many people still have 1mbps (which is enough to play ANY online game with same ping as I currently have)...because honestly...to simply play an online game 1mbps is enough...but I can already imagine having to wait 4x longer and downloading at 150kb/s

besides...some people may want to play the moment it is released...not 1 hour later

I'm just gonna play KF1 while I download and check it after every patriarch wave

Try living in Australia, the speeds are abysmal and it costs around $60 USD/month for 100gb quota. Go over that and your net gets capped to 256Kb/s.
You can get more quota for a similar price, but we have this lovely thing called off-peak, which allocates half of your quota to just the hours of 2am and 8am...

6Mbps here, downloaded GTAV in about 2 hours after throttling myself @1Mpbs for 10 hours  .

Does no one here understand the difference between MB/s and Mbps? They don't mean the same thing. Mb = Megabit. MB = Megabyte. A byte is 8x larger than a bit. Lower case b for bit. Upper case B for byte.

Also, no one is downloading GTAV in 2 hours over a 6Mbps connection, let alone if they've capped it to 1Mbps.

6Mbps is 6,000 kbps which is an effective download rate of 6000/8 = 750 KB/s assuming a perfect connection which no one has. (I'm rounding to 1000 instead of 1024 for ease of calculation and it would only further prove the point anyway)

60 GB = 60,000,000 KB/750KB/s = 80,000 seconds = 1333 mins = 22.22 hours. Assuming a perfect connection that is uncapped with no speed drops.

For that matter even if you did mean 1MB/s you still are going to take much longer than 2 hours.

60 GB = 60,000 MB/(2*60*60) = 8.33 MB/s that you need to be transferring at with no drops in speed. That's a 67 Mbps connection you'd need to have. At the very least.

Why would anyone spin **** without checking basic maths first?

I am paying 8 euro for 60 mbit, unlimited bandwidth.

Bandwidth is not your download quota. 60 Mbps is your bandwidth. It's the rate at which you can transfer data.
