Ah, so modifications of in game postfx using the game files, right. You've managed a lot more than I did with those awful layouts.

If you're really into that I think you'll find that sweetfx, despite dropping your FPS by 1-3 frames, is easier to work with and will give you a better effect, however the gamma changes will work very differently.

I just tweaked it to the pinnacle maximum of the unreal engines capabilities. So you can't get any better than what I did...

The unreal engine 3 can also handle 8096x8096 textures and mine are at the developers max of 4096x4096 and it yields the textures at 4096x4096 continuously without any scaling at all. It's at the max all the time.

I could try 8096x8096 which is twice as high as now, and 8096x8096 is the Absolute pinnacle maximum the unreal engine 3 can handle... SweetFX doesn't pull the graphics to the pinnacle max... Just minor additions with minimal fps drop.

My config is designed to figure your running a devastator system and can handle the redonkuliously high texture resolution... You gonna need 1GB video memory at the BARE minimum...

I can upload the directions and ini if you guy's are interested in seeing what the Pinnacle of Unreal Engine 3 graphics are really like... Quite Impressive! Best I have ever seen on any Unreal Engine 3 so far... Even the water Fluid Simulation is quite amazing!

Forgive me, but what exactly am I looking at that should be different?

As far as I can tell, some areas just look a little darker than what I see in game (then again, I have not had my coffee this morning...)

Additional shadow settings have been enabled for self shadow and global shadows in foreground. Textures and decals don't pop up and disappear as much and the texture resolution is locked down at all times. Everything even in the distance is rendered at max texture resolution and shadows look much nicer than the default. I may test out 8096x8096 textures and see how they look :)

By default even at ultra high the engine scales textures from 64x64 to 4096x4096 and you may see a lot of 256x256 textures etc etc but I have it setup so all textures render at 4096x4096 so we are talking about enhanced fidelity if you know what I mean... :D

Well sir, you had my interest but now you have my attention! It's hard to see these kinds of changes through a jpg picture without comparison material.

So yes, yes please do post the changes you've made. I know about the texture streaming but beyond that... :D

Yeah u kind of have to see it to believe it, it's not easy going beyond "Ultra High" if you know what I mean... It's tough. I'm a Graphical Enthusiast and so I like to tweak with the Unreal Engine 3 in particular.

What would be best is first navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Red Orchestra 2\Binaries\Windows\

there's a file for cheat sake so you can't edit the ini. I'm not looking to cheat because if anything its going to make me worse since fps takes a significant hit. I just don't want anyone to think doing this is bad or me telling u to do this will some how get us in trouble. What I did was right clicked on CleanINIs.bat and clicked edit. Then I deleted all of its contents and saved it. That way when we edit the config ini file, the game won't overwrite it and render everything we just did useless.

Now your gonna wanna navigate to C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\My Games\RedOrchestra2\ROGame\Config\ and in there is the ROEngine.ini so if you not experienced with messing with it you can destroy the game in terms of playability. Not only that but quality can also get way worse so with research and my own testing over and over and over again for hours/ years. I have found what works best while maintaining a playable game. I worry about making the graphics better over all else though even if my GTX470 1.2GB Video Memory pulls off 30fps while overclocked to 835Mhz... I have been learning how to tweak unreal engine games for about 5 years and have finally this year found out how to really dial them in. I'm not quite all the way there yet, may need another year or two to understand how to eliminate mip culling and decal popup's and culling in general. My goal is to eliminate culling all together so I can't visibally see it occuring anywhere because it's quite annoying and ugly.

I was just going to upload mine and put a README for directions etc... Copy, Paste, Enjoy kind of thing... :D

The config's will be probably be 5 so it'll start at 1280x720, 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, and I guess for the rich people out there 2560x1600 :)

What Resolution do you guy's run so i have an idea before putting to much time making different resolution configs?

Keep an eye on Post #1 for the download! :)

The binary file is actually a referential file, I'd rather not delete it HOWEVER you can simply acheive the same effect by editing the ROEngine.ini and then forcing it to be read only while testing things.

Oh and some settings (e.g. max shadow resolution) should be near, if not at, it's hardcored maximum when on ultra settings, at least during my testing I couldn't get it to approach the UE hardmax.

You can boost shadow resolution to 4096 min and 4096 max and yes it will make textures insanely detailed from it's default either 1024 or 1536. But I don't mess with shadow resolution since it looks damn good at ultra at it's low resolution. Plus too much shadow resolution requires a devastator rig probably 2x2GB GPU's to render at decent frame rates.

I could edit it out further but it'll bring every system on the planet to their knees and cripple your rig. The unreal engine 3 can do so so much more than what we are seeing.

I'll throw some Experiemental configs too with GlobalIllumination which looks insane! Coolest thing I've ever seen and it can support it not sure if the developers added the feature in game. I even tweaked the living crap out of the Old School game "Medal Of Honor Airborne" and it looks just as good as I got Rising Storm too :D Pretty fun playing a game made in 06' with GlobalIllumination and full Dynamic shadows and lighting with ultra high texture resolution. Global Illumination makes the Battlefield lightup like a FIREWORK show if done right!!!

I'll test 8096x8096 textures too to see what I can get out of it... That's twice as high as 4096 so we are talking about textures so sharp it may burn your eyes out!!! HAHAHA

I am staring at these screenshots for a good 15 minutes now and can't see what you guys are talking about.
They look average at best...at least to me.

It has to be at 1:1 pixel accuracy to see it since we are talking about texture resolutions 3 times higher than my monitors resolution of 1920x1080.

Meaning ur gonna need to read directions above and just delete data within CleanINIs.bat and save. It's okay the game still works flawlessly.

I'll post the ini config here shortly in post #1 so be patient.

Oh yeah and setting Read-Only does not fix the issue. Somehow the settings are still written in and cause all the data u tweaked to become inactive. You have to do what I say to CleanINIs.bat to make your tweaks active in game. Make changes and then set it to read-only. If you have a working CleanINIs.bat your ini tweaks will not be used. You also have to start with a fresh ROEngine.ini after CleanINIs.bat messes it up...

Ro2 already has baked in global illumination as part of the prebaked lighting, so there should be no need to enable/disable anything.

Currently I can't see much more going on above the normal game + postfx, so I'm hella curious.

Nothing has been flagged by the moderators. None of us can post direct images in this section. You can only post links.

OMG! Really?!? :D That's insane!

Anyway we can enhance it to make it extremely obvious? Like Lights (ie guns/ explorsions) flashing in the distance from all players?

I'm trying to stimulate a realistic firework show per say like in real life... You know like a full blown real life fire fight?

Know of any settings via ini to make smoke clouds bigger and to stay longer?

In real life after or during an epic fire fight the smoke presists for quite some time. I'd say at least 240 seconds (ie 4 minutes).

THANKS! :D

2880 x 1620 downsampled to 1920 x 1080. May we see your ini now?

Same.
Honestly, try to keep settings on enhanced and remove War Movie, which is just a filter that adds grain on the screen desaturating some colours, with an overrall effect of reduction. When I first tweaked my INI file I didn't see changes because I was on war movie.

I'm working on working out the bugs right now and dial in the ideal scene brigtness/ gamma setting since it has a direct relation with branching pfc shadows and vsm shadows. I disabled them both because I got some bugs in some areas which created a very undesirable look. Even know every other scene looked better with them enabled by quite a lot, the bugs ruin the whole experience.

I have it on War Movie at the moment. I thought it looked more realistic with it enabled though... Not so game like, more movie like quality to it...

You know when ur getting close to a building and u see the mips fade in/ out as you get further away or closer? I'm trying to eliminate that and give the best quality with no visible glitching at all. This is in all UE3 engine games... Anyone know a solution?

Also trying to get Gun Flashes to show up on the surrounding environment. I got it working in Medal Of Honor Airborne and it makes it look way more realistic. Not sure of the exact setting since I think it's in the medal of honor airborne systemsettings.ini but not in RO3-Rising Storm...

It's running on no postprocessing at all so no war movie. I found it was causing brightness and performance issues...

the config is in post #1

It's in stable form but performance can be an issue on some maps if your not running an epicly powerly gpu... Even my GTX470 @ 835mhz takes a hit but its cool it looks and sounds awesome :D

I'm so looking forward to using this...it would also be amazing if you could find a way to make smoke from bullet impacts last longer (something I've wanted since the start)

I pretty much had achieved what you have on your screenshots simply by entering the console command " gamma 1.8" while using the war movie preset and the rest as usual like i have it :

http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/152347rogame2013061617294048.jpg
:D
Just war movie preset and gamma at 1.8, i don't like it first the war movie preset is too grainy and the rest is not looking good compared to what i am used to have in this game but well i understand some may like it.

Will check your inis later and see what you have changed compared to some non altered ones ...

PS: just checking quickly and saw the " bUseMaxQualityMode=True", in some maps like Hanto it will
do the same as here http://youtu.be/j6AN2DJbGgg just spawn Japan side & move a bit forward and first rocks will do this, i tested this when game was in beta to have better shadows but the downside not worth it , i don't recommend to turn this particular setting to true, will look at the rest of the files, saw you put higher lods at 8k instead 4k but i'm not sure if they are locked and hard coded directly or not, my bet will be they are, i might be wrong tho, will have to check in game ;)
