In the the Russian RO community interview with Alan says at one point:

the Commander gets to decide where to use rare assets

does that mean that the commander gets to place the lafette? (and perhaps other objects like sandbags, stationary at guns, ammunition).

Nice find Zets.

I think it's something with translation b/c:

Original text says:
We have so far said little about it, but it is designed so that the chain of command was simple and straightforward, relatively. As mentioned earlier, the game will be the role of the squad and platoon commander. Both can set the direction of attack and giving orders. Commanders can request artillery support called spy plane, and the platoon leader may determine how and where you must enter the battle fresh reinforcements. Interface - very simple and intuitive, so no need to tinker with a dozen keys to give the order!
It's not about objects like lafette, but spawnpoints or attack/defense directories I guess.

Me is dissapoint then :(

I would love to see the squadleader place stuff at the beginning of the map. Would add so much diversity without having to make things random.

Interesting is that google translate did better job than ro.ru. Maybe they wanted to hide something from us? :p

So not all were equipped with a scope, although I must say most pictures google can find indeed have one. Perhaps the scope is a weapon upgrade.

I really doubt that the Lafette is a deployable weapon ... I'd imagine it's just a static weapon that is placed by the mapper.

I'd really like it to be a usable weapon in game though ... :D

What I would like is where as the AHZ maps got AT guns that with a 50% chance can spawn somewhere. That at the some specified spots the commander could basically say that there should be a lafette at that location (say a commander could deploy 3 lafette's).

One of the issues with random placement of say AT guns is that the map isn't always balanced exactly the same. Which is critically important for say competitive clan matches. If a player can have a say in placing those things then there can be variety without placing them somewhere by random chance.

Having say 1 minute to place your defenses before a match starts could add a lot of variety to the gameplay, without depending on random events. Although I guess it could be pretty hard to implement.

Deployment time would be just absolutely great feature.

We talked about placeable assets a while ago and I still think its a great idea which would add some much needed diversity to maps that will eventually be memorized and grow stale. However, I feel as though the area in which they are allowed to be 'placed' by the Squad Leader should be limited to the area near one's own spawn zone and not the entire map.

I don't see why deployable tripod MGs would be too much to ask for. It would work like a regular MG, but the deploy time would take much longer. Of course, it's not realistic that a single man would be lugging around a tripod, machinegun, and ammo by himself, though we could easily bring that issue into the realm of "creative abstractions".

Or better yet, heavy machineguns and other crew served weapons would work essentially like vehicles, where you have AI crew members taking up all necessary positions. For a lafette MG, you would probably play as the spotter, with the rest of the MG team behind you in close formation. You would give them the command to deploy somewhere, and then you could manually direct the MG's fire.

This could be applied to a number of crew served weapons, like mortars, anti-tank guns, etc.

This would be cool but instead have the player get to play as the gunner with an AI teammate to act as loader/tripod carrier. I know for the US it was reversed with the gunner carrying the tripod and assistant carrying the actual gun, but this can probably be abstracted for gameplay purposes.
