as title says, ive not played the original but i see a lot of love for the game here.

I'm primarly a BF fan and do play BO if I pre purchase the DDE version in steam and download/play the beta, Can I then cancel my pre-order if its not my type of game?

I think you can, up until release, if I;m correct. Don't quote me on it, though.

You would be a dick to pull this type of move, but yes you can.

Just remember it's a BETA, not a demo. There will be bugs. There will be things you don't like.

I'm quite aware its a beta and lets be honest games on release are buggy as hell now a days anyway.

Playing the beta will at least give me a feel for the game, why would that make me 'a dick?'

In your case I would wait a while after the released product before you buy and possibly take a refund. I would not make the decision based on a beta with like 2 maps (cos no one likes the tank map! :D)

I'm just saying, if you think you'll like the game, buy it. If you aren't sure, maybe you should wait until release and look at reviews. But buying a game to get a free beta and then canceling the preorder is kind of a dick move.

Well if you're buying the game for the beta then that really doesn't make the beta free then does it? And once you cancel your pre-order you no longer have access to the beta.. I see his point, don't really think there is anything wrong with wanting to test the game out to see how it is.

You can look at videos all day long, you need to actually play the game to get a feel for it. You can usually tell within minutes whether its going to be a winner. Nothing wrong with not wanting to pay

You can, provided you buy it, download it, play it, ask for a refund and wait for Valve to reply to you before the game's release. Which is all very unlikely since Valve takes their sweet time dealing with refund requests. Valve will not refund a game once it's released, they will only refund pre-orders.

There is no info about any guest passes or free weekend... im sure there will be smth like that at some point but certainly not any soon, most likely only when sales start slowing down

You're kidding right? You think no demo, and charging people money to Beta Test is a sound and reasonable business practice?

You can cancel pre-order any time up until it is released, and it is not a dick move at all, also it refunds to the card/paypal or however you paid for it.

DasFist is correct, I just cancelled my order yesterday which was approved, and I was offered the option to refund to my Card, PaPal or Steam Wallet.
