Hi,
I have just bought the game and I am unable to play it, which is very disappointing to say the least.

I have seen the multiple threads suggesting fixes to certain issues. The ones I have tried are:

installing the KF-CorrectFiles2.zip from a previous thread. The Thomson router fix. and also the disabling of UPnP, neither of these solutions have worked.

I enter a game thorugh the server browser (which works) and I can see people play for about 10-20 seconds and then, I see them running into walls, along with the AI. I can still occasionally hear random gunshots after awhile.

My connection is fine, and works for all other games. I have also tried port forwarding, which also has not fixed this problem.

Thanks.

Hi,
This is an update to a new problem! I finally managed to get playing, yay! until today when it would hang at the index.rom message.. (F10 To Cancel) etc..
I tried the fix with replacing the System and Map directories via the provided zipped files AND by steam download.. both failed. I tried disabling UPnP.. still failed.. what is going on? I haven't had this much problem with a game :(

Router = THOMSON TG585 v7

Thanks.

Anyone have a clue? It's annoying not being able to play a game you paid for...

I've tried - New Steam pass now also.. My ports are open perfectly fine... I really have no clue..

if you have a hang on joining i would try again to delete your KF system folder and verifying the game cache.

Another thing you could pay notice to is wether or not you recently changed your steamname a wrong steamname can make you hang upon that loading screen as well.

Hi, thank you very much for your reply.

I have deleted the KF system folder and verified the game cache many many times, on many different download servers. Still, no luck. I am however, able to join the odd random game (very rare).

Steam name has not been changed since ever :).

Could anyone please shed some light on this matter? A tripwire representative?

morello i guess knows the most about router stuff.

You can try once you join a server to type "reconnect" into to the console. That will mostlikely reconnect you and stup the disconnect issue from further happening as long as you play there.

When I join a server, there are no disconnect issues. The only issue is connecting. I only very rarely am able to join a server.

some modems require a reset after enabling ports or they wont really enable them you could perhaps try that. But with routers blocking stuff im kind of useless :\

The ports are defiantly open, I have checked via a port scanner. However, I restarted the router just to be safe. The problem still persists.. :(

It seems I can only play early morning/late evening.. sometimes when I do get to play I get lag, even though my ping is fine?? I also get spammed in the console with 'At the end of this round you will become a Demolitions Expert' about 5-8 times. Any advice? please.. a response.. anything.. I bought your game to play, some help getting it working would be lovely.. :(

Callist, as much as I understand your frustration, please don't continually bump your thread. I'm sure someone will post if they have any ideas.

If you have tried the fixes that are suggested on the board, such as reinstalling from a different content server (Seattle is apparently the best bet), which it seems you have, including the one that I suggested earlier, then I'm not sure what could be the problem. The fact that you say you can play at a particular time of day, and that even then you get lag, leads me to think that it could be an issue with your ISP, but I'm not sure. When you are able to join a game, you could press F6 to get the net stats up and see if there are any obvious problems there.

Of course if you posted your system specs then maybe someone would be able to see a potential problem.

No pun intended but if I do not bump, the post goes flying to the bottom due to the large amount of support threads :S. If people dont/cant see it, what hope do I have.

Next time you get in the game check out your netstats by pressing F6 and post back the rough results. The ping in there should update more often than the one on the scoreboard so you might be able to see if it is jumping around. You might want to try replacing that masterservers.vdf file again and make sure that it is read-only.

Also, who is your ISP?
