Treyarch did a sterling job with WaW IMO, no reason to think any less of Black Ops. Should get my copy Fri/Sat. Shame I have to wait until Steam unlocks the game on Tuesday :(

Well, the balance wasn't that good in WaW (Mp40). Still, not as broken as MW2 with Dangerclose/OneManArmy tubes though.

Amen brother. We'll come back to this forum 3 months from now and they'll still be complaining how bad this game is that they have never played. The power of the internet. I bet Ramm has ordered a copy. Imagine the horror of our anti CoD posters here if they found our the grand fubar had turned traitor.....

Only masochists and the blind deny themselves a fully resourced Treyarch Productions game. Much to their folly.
Dude, they'll complain everytime there's a new CoD (at least the WaW thread had rolled up sleeves >_>).

CODWAW, I was given it as a gift from a relative and felt compelled to play it. It was ok, I went thru single player and played a little multiplayer because my clan had a server. Ultimately not impressed and I only played a little while. Had I bought it, I would have been pissed at myself for my stupidity. So IW or Treyarch... it makes no difference to me.

I have got chums in industry who have seen it evolve since alpha. They are very very excited. With a significantly larger HD gaming install base it will easily sell more than MW2. Witness the MW2 still selling. That's people who bought HD consoles this year. They will buy Black ops. Everyone will except the 10 bitter souls in this thread.

I dunno man, $60 for another round of the same old same old seems a bit steep to me.

Anyone who's been with the series since the start has to admit things are getting stale by now. Not every game needs sequels until the end of time.

That'd be me. I didn't feel that way except maybe with MW2 but that was mainly because the SPs plot was just so damn stupid and I didn't play any MP. Maybe the next CoDs will bring more innovations since next up as far as I know are the games from that 3rd developer(forgot the name) and then the "new" infinity ward. Maybe if I had played lots of MW2 MP I'd be more "bored".

Also, just to clarify, I'm of course not paying 60

IDK it's just CoD for me = 6hours of cinematic action experience(though like I said MW2s story was ridiculous) in SP and lots of rather mindless fun with addicting leveling in MP. Of course when I want a really atmospheric realism experience I'd still go with RO or Project Reality or HoS once it's out, but I guess I know how to differntiate.

EXACTLY! You sir have nailed it with those few but prophetic words. This is why we buy CoDs. No more no less. And this is why we will continue to.

I've seen the screenshots of you RPG whore-ing!!!

Oh yeah and quickscoping is now officially dead. Suck it babies.

YouTube - Call of Duty Black Ops new patch on Snipers 11/5

Omg yes!! This was a HUGE thing for me. People could just quickscope BEFORE they even saw anything in the scope. Soon as you pressed to aim, you were considered scoped. Meanwhile I'd be sniping normally and hit someone dead on and nothing

My friend told me people were complaining the other day that he was using the sniper rifles properly. "He's hardscoping" they said. Why, because its HARD to actually look at the scope when you snipe? People are unbelievable

The difference is that COD:WaW was fully featured for the PC, unlike this game.

You're looking at 18 player ranked dedicated servers, which can't be hosted privately if you have a fast machine and want to host it. I call that BS.

I'm sorry, but I'm done with CoD forever. These days it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

So what you're saying is you want 32/64 player servers running nuketown only and them being completely **** and unfun spamfests? the entire game is designed and BALANCED around there being 18 player ranked servers.

Also, say what you will about the idea behind the game and the general gameplay. Stale and rehashed or not. But the art has been consistently outstanding throughout all CoD games up to now. They are well-made games. Whether they are good games is a matter of debate, but that they are well-made is obvious.

That's too general a statement i'd say, they have some very talented 2D and 3D artists, yes, i think most anyone would agree with that, but the writing that goes into thir SP campaigns, now that's debatable, as is some of the map design, AI scripting, and the work done with gameplay balance aswell.

A game consists of more than it's visual assets, and consensus does decline when we look at the other aspects of thease games..
